It was an action-packed weekend at the final round of the Amaron Karting Challenge that was held in Hyderabad at MECO's Ministry of Speed karting circuit at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Bangalore-lad Akash Gowda emerged victorious after engaging in a battle for first place with Rubeel Saleem and Akhil Rabindra. It was an adrenaline-filled event with the twelve qualifiers battling neck-to-neck for most part of the race.
It was Akhil Rabindra who took lead in the initial laps of the race followed by Rubeel Saleem. Close on their heels was Akash Gowda chasing the duo as the three drivers fought for the lead. Amongst the heat of the battle, Rubeel Saleem and Akhil Rabindra had a collision which gave Akash Gowda an opportunity to pass the two drivers and take the lead. Once in the lead, 12-year old Akash held onto his position for the remaining laps of the race and crossed the finish line in first position to take home the top honours.
Bangalore boys dominated the event with Akash Gowda, Akhil Rabindra and Prahkyat Rai sweeping the podium in first, second and third place respectively. Although Rubeel was third to cross the finish-line, he was penalized for three places by the stewards for hitting Akhil's car, which pushed him down the finishing order handing Prakhyat Rai third place on the podium.
Akash Gowda, who won the Amaron Karting Challenge season three at Hyderabad, bagged a scholarship worth Rs.10 lakh which includes professional training and covers expenses for travel, boarding, testing and registration fees for various racing-related events. The Amaron karting challenge is structured by one of the leading motorsport event company in the country, MECO Motorsports headed by Akbar Ebrahim and it has been responsible for organizing several motorsport-related events in the country for a long time.
The grand finale of the Amaron Karting Challenge witnessed exciting racing action amongst young talented kids participating from various cities like Pune, Mumbai and other parts of the country to showcase some serious racing talent in the national-level karting event.
