Audi has released the first teaser image of its all-new SUV – the Audi Q6 at its annual press conference. The Ingolstadt-based carmaker revealed at this event that this forthcoming new vehicle will be powered by an all-electric powerplant.
The upcoming new Audi Q6 will use a similar system to the R8 e-tron and will reportedly have a range of 293km on a single charge. This new vehicle will be based on the same MLB platform that underpins the Q7 and will feature a 100kWh battery pack.
Ulrich Hackenberg, Head of Audi’s Research and Development wing, stated that the upcoming Audi Q6 electric SUV will borrow its styling cues from Prologue Concept unveiled last year. He further adds that the Q6 will be sportier than the Q7.
The new Audi Q7 is gearing up for its launch in India. This upcoming new model gets sharper body creases and a more aggressive stance than before. Also new are the more prominent wheel arches, redesigned tail lamps and bumpers and new alloy wheels.
The second generation Audi Q7 will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol option would include a 251PS, 2.0-litre TFSI and a larger 3.0 TFSI producing 333PS of power and 440Nm torque. A 3.0-litre TDI oil-burner capable of churning out 272PS of peak power and 600Nm of maximum torque will also do duty under the Q7. A slightly detuned variant of the 3.0-litre TDI engine producing 218PS and 500Nm of torque is also expected to be launched a little later.
The new generation Audi Q7 will be brought in India by late 2015. Though, the German car manufacturer has not indicated the price of the new SUV, we expect it to be priced between Rs 75-90 lakh in India.
