The production version of the full-fairing Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS spotted; launch expected soon

One of the most viewed motorcycles during the 2014 Auto Expo has to be Bajaj’s full-fairing equipped Bajaj Pulsar SS 400 and the naked street fighter Bajaj Pulsar CS 400 concepts. But, as we had reported earlier, the next Pulsar to be launched by the Pune based automobile manufacturer won’t be either of the 400cc models, but in fact a new 200cc full-fairing version. And we’ve lost count how many times we’ve spotted the camouflaged test mules of the smaller bike doing the test runs on the outskirts of Pune.

Now, for the first time a completely undisguised production version of the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS was snapped at a private function. The ready for launch Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS looks identical to the Bajaj 400cc concepts, except for the new body graphics and ‘200 SS’ decals on the rear panels announcing its smaller engine capacity, while the postfix ‘SS’ denotes 'Super Sport'.

The aggressive front design of the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS employs multi-layered full fairing, dual projector lamps with black surrounds and LED pilot lamps. The sleek turn indicators closely resemble the ones seen on the KTM Duke 200. Keeping to the ‘Super Sport’ tag the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS comes with front windscreen, split seats and tall two-piece handlebar. The sharp rear end gets mudguard mounted floating LED tail lamps which look unique. Also, new in the Pulsar 200 SS is a dual-tone exhaust which replaces the underbelly exhaust used on the Bajaj 200 NS.

What the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS could carry forward from its NS variant is its 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled, triple spark plug engine which can churn out 23.5PS of peak power at 9,500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. However, the power output may vary slightly if Bajaj decides to offer the Pulsar 200 SS with fuel injection. Another inclusion we would love to see on the new 200 SS is an optional ABS at least on the top-end variant.

Looking at these images it’s obvious that Bajaj will be launching the Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS very soon. Pricing of the new 200 SS is expected to be around Rs 1.25 lakh.
