Hyundai’s new performance division, N-sport has unveiled its first official car with a more powerful version of the Elite i20 which gets 115Ps of peak power.

Hyundai recently announced a new sub-brand which will concentrate on making its cars more powerful and sporty. This new brand, N-sport will be under Hyundai and will act like an in house tuner of sorts making hotter versions of their regular commuter cars similarly to what Abarth is to Fiat or AMG to Mercedes-Benz.

In terms of design, the Hyundai Elite i20 N-sport comes with a number of visual enhancements, including new 17-inch alloy rims and a ground effects body kit with side skirts, front and rear bumper trim finishes and a rear boot spoiler. Although from the looks of things it does looks sporty, we are personally disappointed by the fact that Hyundai hasn’t redesigned the whole bumper and has instead decided to cut corners and go with a addon body kit setup. You also get a stainless steel free-flow CAT back exhaust system with a large exhaust tip and N-badges on the front mudguards and rear hatchback door.

Power is provided by 1.4-liter petrol engine which is also found in the likes of the Verna but has been retuned to deliver 115PS of peak power and 160Nm of peak torque. Power of course is sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. Other mechanical enhancements include a stiffer spring setup which will make a huge difference in the way the car handles and might actually be the sole reason for choosing something like this. The brakes also have been updated with a set of ventilated discs up front and solid discs in the rear with a brand new 4-channel ABS and an EBD system providing extra support to the system. All in all though, Hyundai should have done a lot more to this platform by creating a car that would have really appealed to the sensible petrolhead both in India and abroad.
