Indian car and bike manufacturer Mahindra has raised the price of its flagship motorbike Mojo by no less than INR 5,000 in India after the end of the Diwali sales period.

As a result of this hike, the powerful machine, which was priced at INR 1.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) at the time of its India launch in October this year, will now be available at around 1.63 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The price was slashed at the time of the bike’s debut ahead of Diwali but the offer was extended even further to attract more buyers. The first 100 customers of the bike had received various benefits apart from the discounted price, including a two-year nation-wide Road Side Assistance package and an extended warranty of three years plus the standard coverage of two years.

Positioned in a niche segment as a sub-INR 2 lakh true-blue tourer, the Mahindra Mojo is powered by a 292cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that can churn out 27PS at 8,000rpm and 30Nm torque at 5,500rpm. The motor is coupled to a six-speed constant mesh transmission. The salient features of the tourer include an inverted telescopic fork by Paioli, a stubby monoshock, a 320 mm disc rotor at the front with a four-piston caliper, a 240 mm disc at the rear with a twin-pot caliper - from Chinese manufacturer J Juan - and 17-inch alloy wheels with 110/70 and 150/60 Pirelli Diablo Rosso II radial tyres. The two-wheeler comes with a fuel tank capacity of 21-litres and has a dry weight of 165 kg.

Offered in three colours, white, black and red, the Mahindra Mojo is pitted against the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300R, Honda CBR 250R/300R and KTM Duke twins in the market.
