Maruti Suzuki has been the market leader as the largest passenger car manufacturer for India. Now, the company has set its new target to enter the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market soon. The first offering by Maruti Suzuki will be the Super Carry Turbo LCV that has been recently spied at a dealership stockyard. The spied LCV does not carry any significant resemblance to the previous versions of the Suzuki Carry which is sold in Japan, which could mean that the Super Carry turbo has been customized especially for the Indian market and road conditions.
The spied image of the Maruti Suzuki Super Carry Turbo bears the ‘Turbo’ badge as it is being powered by the 793cc DDiS 125 motor which currently does duty in the Celerio diesel. A CNG version of the Super Carry will also be launched which would probably be powered by a detuned version on the 1.2-litre engine from the Maruti Suzuki Eeco. Gearbox used will be a 4-speed manual affair transmitting power to the rear wheels.
We have learned that Maruti Suzuki will be launching the LCV in 2016 itself but will be carried out in a phase-wise manner beginning from Panjab and Gujarat and further on in Haryana and other states of the nation. The payload carrying capacity for the Super Carry can be expected to be between 1-ton to 1.5-tones. The chassis used in the LCV will be of ladder type frame with the engine located at the front and rear wheel driving setup.
The Maruti Suzuki Super Carry Turbo will be seen competing against the popular Tata Ace and the Mahindra Maxxino in the light commercial vehicle market.
