No wonder there are long waiting periods at almost all Royal Enfield dealerships across the country as Royal Enfield is the most searched two-wheeler brand on Google, for the year 2014.
Google Zeitgeist 2014, a snapshot of what people are searching for on Google, has revealed that the Chennai-based manufacturer has topped all searches for two-wheeler brands in India. Second place is taken by Honda Activa, Honda’s largest selling two wheeler in the country.
What is not surprising is the number of people looking at buying or searching Google for information on automatic scooters. Third position is also taken by an automatic scooter, not from Honda, but the TVS Jupiter.
Here’s the list of the 7 most searched two-wheelers on Google:
Rank |
Name |
1 |
Royal Enfield |
2 |
Honda Activa |
3 |
TVS Jupiter |
4 |
Ducati |
5 |
Bajaj Pulsar |
6 |
CBR 150 |
7 |
Duke 390 |
Ducati takes fourth place in the Google Zeitgeist list while Bajaj Pulsar comes in at fifth position. Google only gives the list on what is searched the most and no explanations are given. So, even we aren’t sure about the reasons behind the popularity of these searches.
Honda’s CBR 150, despite being not much of a seller in the market, seems to generate quite a bit of interest among people searching for information. The KTM Duke 390 takes seventh place on the list. What is interesting is that the much-awaited full-faired KTM RC 390 takes a distant 15th place on the list.
Surprisingly, none of the models of the world’s largest two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp made it to the top searches. The new Hero Karizma R managed just 14th place on the top searched list.
Google Zeitgeist is a great way to get some behind the scenes data on what people are searching for. We’ve only compiled the list of top searched two-wheelers here, but you can go back to 2001 at the Google Zeitgeist Archives and search for all kinds of data, even those completely unrelated to automobiles.
