Suzuki Alto RS Turbo previewed in Japan

Suzuki has released first pictures and information about the Alto RS Turbo, set to be fully unveiled during the Tokyo Auto Salon in January next year. As the name suggests, the RS Turbo is a turbocharged version of the standard Alto Kei car that is available only for the Japanese market. The new Alto RS Turbo will follow a long line of Alto RS Turbos that are regarded very highly amongst auto enthusiasts.

Power is provided by a 660cc petrol engine which has been turbocharged, but there is still no information about the maximum power output or torque figures. The new car is also 60kg lighter than its predecessor and is based on a new platform. Just like the standard car, the RS Turbo will come with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox. It is unsure whether Suzuki will have an all-wheel-drive version of the car but we wouldn’t rule it out considering they have had such versions in the past too.

On the exterior front, the Suzuki Alto RS Turbo comes with red accents for the bumpers, red mirror caps and red 17-inch alloy wheels. The car also gets side decals and a racing stripe to accentuate the looks. The Suzuki RS Turbo joins a long line of quick sporty Kei cars like the Daihatsu Charade Turbo and the Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart amongst others that offers mass market customers a taste of affordable performance.
