Volvo India will launch a slew of new cars in 2016. The new cars will include a brand new model, the upcoming and highly anticipated S90, along with sportier versions of current cars and some facelifts.
There will also be a new body style that Volvo will bring to India in a first of its kind launch in the country.
1. Volvo S90
The Volvo S90 is the replacement for the ageing S80 sedan and, if pictures are anything to go by, will look stunning in the flesh. Of course, the new car will also feature the futuristic and highly user friendly interior and infotainment systems that the XC90 uses along with the new engines.
2. Volvo S60 Cross Country
Although India is a very popular country for crossover vehicle styles and cross hatchbacks, we have never seen a cross sedan in India. The S60 CC will be the first of its kind in the country and will offer a sedan with SUV styling features like side claddings and plastic exposed wheel trim.
3. Volvo S60 Polestar
As M is for BMW and AMG for Mercedes, Volvo has Polestar. Painted in its traditional bright blue colour, the new car will be an apt combatant for the likes of the Audi S5 in India. The Volvo S60 Polestar comes with a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine making 345PS of peak power
4. Volvo XC90 Excellence
The Volvo XC90 Excellence will essentially be the super luxury variant on the already well appointed SUV. The XC90 Excellence will not offer the seven seats that the XC90 Inscription variant currently gets but only 4 highly luxurious ones instead. The rear seats too will get an electronically controlled setup with massage and cooling features along with much more legroom than normal.
5. Volvo XC90 R-Design
The Volvo XC90 R-Design is the sporty one of the lot. The R-Design will feature a more aggressive body kit, even bigger wheels with low profile tyres and the possibility of a petrol engine. Also expect sportier interiors which include a more aggressive looking seat setup and carbon fibre inserts instead of wood.
6. Volvo V40 Facelift
The Volvo V40, launched recently, will also get a mid life facelift like the one that the international model has just received. The new car is also expected to get a slightly updated interior package with the possibility of the large touchscreen infotainment system.
7. Volvo V40 CC facelift
The Volvo V40 CC has been with us for a few years in India now. Although sales have not really been great, the V40 CC has found a few takers and will soon get a midlife refresh. As with the V40 hatchback, the facelift will be limited to bumpers, grilles and wheels along with an update in the interior department.
