Competition in the 110cc scooter section is heating up and TVS Motor Company has now unveiled an all-new 2014 version of its popular 110cc scooter Wego.
Pitted against the likes of Honda Activa i, Yamaha Ray and Suzuki Let’s, the 2014 TVS Wego is powered by the same 109.7cc single cylinder, air cooled four stroke engine which has seen service in earlier versions of the scooter. TVS Motor Company says it has incorporated several improvements in the all-aluminium engine, which delivers peak power of 8.1PS @ 7500rpm and 8Nm of torque, for more refinement.
The 2014 version of the Wego also has an all-metal body like its predecessor and incorporates several new features including a full digital console, tubeless tyres, parking brakes, new muffler and TVS patented econometer. In the styling and looks department, the Wego now comes with fresh graphics on the side panels, multi-reflector halogen headlamps and a LED tail lamp. Its looks has earned the Wego the prestigious India Design Mark (I Mark) Award 2014 by the India Design Council as well. The scooter is available in five monotone colours – Midnight Black, Mercury Grey, Cappuccino Brown, Sporty White and Volcano Red. TVS has also introduced two new dual tone colours – dual tone white and dual tone red.
The TVS Wego, which was first launched in 2009, now carries a price tag of Rs 48,857 (ex-showroom Mumbai) and is available with a disc brake option at Rs 49,580 (ex-showroom Mumbai). Ever since its inception, the Wego was conspicuous by its unique features like twelve-inch alloy wheels, telescopic front suspension and first-in-class gas filled rear shock absorbers. TVS has retained these features in the 2014 Wego as well.
