There are two possibilities for Kia and this is just speculation. One, is that Hyundai will do a Renault NissN type model - common production facilities with different product focus. Hyundai would be primarily domestic market focussed with fewer exports and Kia would be export focussed, with fewer domestic sales, much like Renault and Nissan. Secondly, Kia and Hyundai may compete in the same price band, with Kia at about a 10-15% premium again, much like Renault and Nissan.
I have a feeling Kia cars will sit above the Hyundai ones. Or probably they might do a 'Nexa' with the more premium cars being sold through Kia and best sellers through Hyundai. Any which way, if and when Kia makes it to India, car buyers will get a lot more options to choose from.
It still doesn't make sense... Hyundai offer hatchbacks from Rs 3 lac to Rs 10 lac, sedans from Rs 5 lac to Rs 20 lac and SUVs from Rs 9 lac to Rs 33 lac; all well accepted by the market. Where exactly does Kia come in?!

There is a high possibility that the Kia cars are only manufactured here and not sold. Owing to comparative productiion cost advantage India has. Also, the next big move from Hyundai would probably be to introduce the Genesis Sedans here. The preview at the Expo generated quite a buzz and it is a brilliant brand.
