Did you check if the red light on the dash lit up and stayed on, before you had the symptoms of low battery?
It didn't - so that's not the issue.
The second issue could be corrosion, residue build up around the battery terminals itself, leading to a poor connection.
Will check
The third issue, could be a poor negative ground connection, owing to rust or a loose contact of the negative cable
Okay, will check that too
Also, as it is very hot these days, when did you last check the distilled water in the battery? It could be running dry.
Getting a feeling that this could be the reason, anyway visiting the nearest Amaron shop either after office or tomorrow. Thanks!

This sounds to me like an electrical loose contact problem, and not really a battery problem. It could be one of three things - there is no charge coming from the alternator to the battery (rectifier issue). Did you check if the red light on the dash lit up and stayed on, before you had the symptoms of low battery? If it is the alternator rectifier, it is easy to replace - costs about Rs. 650. You can check this with a multimeter. It should show about 14.5 volts when the engine is running. Battery should show 12.1-12.6 volts at rest and 13.5-14 volts when the engine is running. The second issue could be corrosion, residue build up around the battery terminals itself, leading to a poor connection. The third issue, could be a poor negative ground connection, owing to rust or a loose contact of the negative cable. It does not sound like a very serious issue, since your battery is fairly new. Also, as it is very hot these days, when did you last check the distilled water in the battery? It could be running dry. The fact that it woke up this morning, could be that it has very little distilled water and holds only limited charge. Check the above things and let me know.

Hello all, I drive a 2004 Maruti Suzuki Zen - it has been maintained well, except for cosmetic blemishes. I have had battery troubles on and off, but nothing too serious (changed battery to alternator cable, alternator itself and the previous issues were sorted). Yesterday though was very different; I was driving to work from home and the car seemed to be sluggish, the horns' sound seemed to become softer and then died altogether, the steering had no assist at all and all my lights were not functioning. I know these are signs of a dead battery. I decided to park the car in office (thankfully I was able to drive it till there without much hassle, if you discount the sweltering heat), I had planned to call up Amaron and ask them to replace my battery under warranty (I bought the current one in 2015) - as the car was parked in office, I decided to call them today (Friday, so less work load in office). I borrowed my room-mates car to come to office today, reached the parking lot. Walked up to the Zen to take the Aux cable out, and to my surprise the central locking was working. Stepped in, put the key in and the dashboard lit up, the horn was fine, the car started up without any protests. Electrical problem I think, has anybody experienced something similar? What needs to be diagnosed - does the whole wiring have to be inspected? P.S. Currently, I have a fender indicator light that is broken - but otherwise all lights and electricals are intact and working. TIA
