Roshun, Maruti said that the waiting period for the Brezza will only go up by a day or two. Not sure how far this claim is true. But today they have announced that they will resume production from its Gurgaon plant from the second half of today (June 1). Also, operations such as casting and manufacturing of transmissions will also resume at its plant in Manesar plant from today. Two-wheeler production, the company said, remained unaffected due to the fire at the Subros plant in Manesar. Eye witnesses said the fire was caused when a couple of LPG cylinders exploded. A portion of the building collapsed later. Thankfully, no casualties were reported after the incident.

This is quite a set back for Maruti. It already is not able to cope with the demand for the Vitara Brezza and the Maruti Baleno, both of which have waiting periods of more than six months on average. The Brezza top-end ZDI and ZDI+ variants in fact, have a waiting period of nine months. Sanden Vikas and Subros are the main air-conditioning unit suppliers to OEMs in India. Subros has a tie up with Denso - one of the world's leading car airconditioner suppliers (most cars in India run on this Denso system). If Subros can't bring their production back on track within the next few days, it's going to have repercussions across brands, not just Maruti, which is Subros' largest customer. Mahindra and Tata I think use Sanden Vikas ACs for some of their models, although they also buy from Subros for others. Not sure which models from these companies would be affected.
