All hail the mighty FIAT. The only ones brave enough to launch something for the enthusiasts. It's quite sad that the Punto Abarth and Avventur Abarth are not moving out of the showroom floors though. Come on people dole out some extra money and go for these cars. Why do you always have to let your head rule your heart? Go crazy once in a while. As long as my countrymen don't think like MotuSid, or me, all we are going to get are cars with puny little engines that can return 20+ kmpl but are no fun to drive. I've seen many people advice their friends or family to go buy a hot hatch or a car that makes more than 100PS. But when it's their turn, they play safe by buying a freaking Swift diesel or a similar sort of car in the end. This is just pathetic. Ok, I'm just ranting now. Stop Nik!

Companies are looking for volumes and profits. Such "enthusiast only" cars don't really work. Fiat was brave enough to venture into that territory with the Fiat Punto Abarth and Avventura Abarth - but the sales numbers are just not looking good. Sure, the mad Italian car company loves enthusiasts and enthusiasts love them. But it does not add to the bottom line. Volkswagen is not likely to take that route in a big way, although it is probably going to see what response its Polo GTI will get in India. For the sake of enthusiast everywhere, and for the sake of setting a precedent, I hope it does well. Limited editions and flash sales is a good idea, but unfortunately, if there's a mechanical or dimensional change in a car model, the company has to invest in homologating it all over again with ARAI - a task not everyone wants to do.
"Good for you, people of Russia, companies think you have a better taste in cars. Good for you. Be happy with your chromed up pieces of shit, Indians - that is what you deserve."
Well to be honest, it's not something car manufacturers have done. The time hot hatchbacks and sport cars came around in Europe, 1980s, we were still fighting within ourselves. We are running 30-40 years behind in terms of automotive presence. And now when we are finally getting some good cars, we give them cold response. Abarth cousins are a good example in case. We can cry all about the Vento 125, but we know the Linea 125S is going to be another flop anyway. Urban Cross will be another one in line. Manufacturers not giving is good cars is the result of how we treat good cars. We the "car nuts" appreciate these wonderful machines for their capabilities, but at least in my case, income is something that can't be ignored. So yes, Be happy with your chromed up pieces of shit, Indians - that is what you deserve.
