The 2015 version of Ducati's flagship 1299 Panigale is out. It is one of the very few motorcycles that have drop-dead gorgeous skin and hardware to back it. Powering the new Panigale is a 1285 cc motor churning out 205 PS of power and 146 NM of torque, with the motor being incorporated into a monocoque chassis. Improved road mannerism, updated electronics and rider aids make it practical for the track as well as the road. Ducati updated its electronics package with an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that keeps a track of the acceleration in relation to three axes and calculates the bike's angle of roll and pitch. The IMU adapts the bike's performance based on the conditions using readings given out by Ducati Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS, and on the S model - Ducati Electronic Suspension. Suspension on the S model is composed of an Ohlins Smart EC semi-active suspension system. It divides the riding into different events instead of looking every millisecond at what the chassis is doing and making continuous adjustments. Eight-level (plus off) Ducati Wheelie Control system borrowed from the Superleggera, a Ducati Quick Shifter with auto-blip function for upshifts and downshifts, as well as an adjustable Engine Brake Control system are some of the additional features that the 1299 Panigale has. Ducati's focus on light weight makes the new 1299 set a benchmark for power-to-weight ratio in its class. Add to it some of the finest brakes and updated electronics, and it creates one potent machine which lets riders experience some of the best times on a production motorcycle. The Bike comes in two variants, base and S. The sticker price stands at 33 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). A premium price, but don't forget this is a premium package.
