Mohittrd99 I don't think the next generation Polo based on the MQB platform will make it to India for the exact same reason as MotuSid mentioned. Also, the new Polo that is under development is more than 4 metres in length and hence won't qualify for our excise cuts for sub-4 mentre cars. Buying a petrol car is a good decision especially with the current uncertainty over the future of diesel vehicles in the country. However, I strongly suggest you take a look at the GT TSI as the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine in the Polo Highline is a bit underpowered and unrefined. The 1.2-litre TSI engine, however, is in a class of its own. Not only is it powerful but it comes with the amazing 7-speed DSG gearbox as well. Driven with a light foot, this engine will be more efficient than the naturally aspirated engine too.

It is true that the Polo will be refreshed Mohittrd99. The next Polo to be offered in India will not be built on the new MQB platform, though - VW is trying to save money, as they have lost a lot of money over the diesel emissions scandal (and will lose even more in the coming months) - they do not have the money to invest in improving the production facilities and the tooling to assemble the new MQB A0 platform in India. Instead, VW India will develop the next version of the current platform - called the PQ26. We suspect it will be launched sometime in the 2018-2019 timeframe, to be used on the new Polo, Vento, Rapid and possibly a new compact-SUV/crossover. So, if you want to wait for an uncertain period of time - you could wait for the new Polo. If you cannot stand uncertainty, buy the current-gen Polo.
