Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S Launched in India Ducati India has launched its latest cruiser offering- the XDiavel. The launch event took place at AMP Superbikes, Gurgaon. In a paradigm shift of Ducati's attitude, the new XDiavel exudes a characteristic dark-themed class, as opposed to the red racing genes which Ducati is always associated with. When gorgeous Italian design, state-of-the-art engineering procreates with the concept of cruiser stance and relaxed ergonomics, you get the XDiavel. And my Lord, it looks magnificent and how! Check out the attention to detail: The XDiavel is powered by the new Ducati Testeratta DVT (Desmodromic Valve Timing) 1262cc L-twin engine pumping out 156 bhp of power @ 9500 rpm and 128.9 Nm of torque @ 5000 rpm. The power is put down to the humongous 240 section Pirelli Diablo Rosso via a belt- drive, which is a first for Ducati. The reason why they chose a belt drive for the XDiavel is because it not only complements the cruiser design but also ensures fluid power delivery and hassle-free maintenance. The XDiavel also comes with ride-by-wire system with three riding modes- Sport, Touring and Urban. The riding modes coupled with the Ducati Traction Control (DTC), cornering ABS, cruise control and Ducati Power Launch make the XDiavel quite a tech-laden cruiser. The bike comes with a TFT screen with four different display modes and the XDiavel S is equipped with a Bluetooth module that lets riders view incoming calls, text messages and music playlists via their smartphones, on the TFT screen. This Bluetooth module is optional on the 'regular' XDiavel, though. Ducati claims there are sixty ergonomic combinations in total, using optional accessories. A three-way adjustable feet-forward rider footpeg and two pillion seats (one is normal and the other one is with a backrest) are included as standard. The XDiavel is available in matte black at INR 15.87 Lacs, ex-showroom, Delhi while the XDiavel S will be available at INR 18.87 Lac in gloss black with a matte black stripe and red trim. The differences between the XDiavel and the XDiavel S are that the XDiavel S has stylish (read- freaking cool) cast and machined alloys, glossy black engine with machined belt covers, premium seat, machined aluminium mirrors, infotainment system, Bluetooth module, Brembo Monobloc M50 Calipers at the front and Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The hardware is pretty much the same and it's only the visual bits and bobs that make it stand apart from the regular XDiavel. Personally, I don't think it is worth spending three lacs extra for a bunch of shiny parts. What do you guys think? Oh, also, the regular Diavel will be sold alongside the XDiavel. I think the XDiavel makes more sense because for one lac extra, you get an all new design, bigger engine and a better electronics package. Oddly enough, the Diavel makes marginally more power than the XDiavel, despite having a smaller engine. The XDiavel will compete against the likes of Yamaha V-Max, Harley Davidson V-Rod, etc. As far as i know, the V-max will be phased out soon due to emission norms and the V-Rod is already too long in the tooth. So that makes the XDiavel the only proper 'power cruiser' in the market. More pictures will be added in the thread below.

Going by the flurry of launches in the recent past, it looks like Ducati is on an aggressive streak. After the introduction of its middleweight track tool- the 959 Panigale and the out-and-out adventure tourer- the Multistrada 1200, Ducati is all set to introduce its power cruiser, the XDiavel in the Indian market. The XDiavel is the new and improved Diavel with changes made both visually and mechanically to give a better cruising experience. The bike is powered by 1262 cc liquid-cooled L-twin engine churning out 156 hp at 9,500 rpm and 128.9 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The XDiavel will be launched in September 15th, 2016 and I'm pretty stoked about it! The XDiavel is equipped with all the bells and whistles like multiple riding modes, Ducati Safety Pack (BOSCH cornering ABS + Ducati Traction Control), DPL (Ducati Power Launch), Ride by Wire, Cruise control and Backlit handlebar switches. The engine, as expected is Euro 4 compliant and the claimed mileage figure stands at 18.8 kmpl. Here are some drool worthy pictures: What I don't understand is that there is hardly any space for the pillion. There seems to be an optional backrest, but I wonder how the comfort levels would be. Also, though the exposed exhausts look damn cool, it will probably burn the pillion's shoes.
