KPR Yes, it is indeed a sad state of affairs here in our country. I even see policemen riding motorcycles without strapping their helmets. Although, things change slightly during winters. People start wearing leather jackets, gloves, and whatnot. Even then, it is not for safety. It is just for the sake of keeping oneself warm!

[QUOTE_NODE]"Originally posted by Praveen" KPRI know right! Similarly, seeing a Chetak in Chennai is like seeing a Unicorn! And it is so common here in the North! Same goes to Honda Eterno. One odd thing I've noticed here in Delhi is that there is not much of variety of bikes here. Mostly, I could only see sub 150 cc commuters and among scooters- it's all Activas, Aviators and Chetaks here. Back in Chennai, a lot of people have cool bikes such as the Duke, FZ, Pulsar, and RE. Another interesting thing is there are a lot of women drivers here in Delhi but not women riders. Whereas in Chennai, one could see a lot of ladies zipping around in Scootys and Activas. Is it because of safety? I don't exactly know. What do you think? [/QUOTE_NODE] Delhi as such is a city where you may find the ratio of car to bike more as compared to any other metros in India. So no wonder many drivers and not riders in Delhi. I don't think Indians vary much on safety awareness. More than 50% wear seat belt and helmet just not to get caught rather than own safety.
