CorsaVeloce Chevy as a brand has not performed well anywhere else but in the US. Over EU and Australia, the Chevy brand has been almost discontinued. Outside the US, Asia was their next big market, but with the slow response shown to customer's demand they have started to lose their grip on these markets too. They had good selling products like the Tavera, Spark and the Beat, but they failed to update or replace the cars with changing times. The Uva and Sail were so disappointing in terms of interiors and quality , that even the National engine couldn't save them. Now, even though they have updated the Beat, its too minor a facelift for the product. They need to get more cars, especially in the hatchback and premium hatchback segment and also the compact SUV segment. I feel even this Beat would get lack lustre response from the private buyers and may fetch some sales in the taxi segment.

More pictures of the upcoming Beat have been posted by CarDekho and now from a closer look, it does not look like a completely new car. Major cosmetic upgrade to the old one it seems. The rear lamps seem to be very similarly shaped as the old ones I quite like the front end. Looks sharp and aggressive. Much better than the outgoing model. Alloys seem to remain unchanged All new dashboard, but the 'bike-inspired' instrument cluster remains.

The Sail is not a sub-4 metre car and hence cannot get excise duty benefits (frankly, I see this sub-4 metre rule as one of the biggest hinderances for us in India to get globally acceptable models). The Beat Essentia panders to that same demand for a "three-box" sedan that most buyers in that price segment aspire to. However, I am not really sure this car would be a sell out for Chevrolet - a brand that is actually struggling with success now. None of the Chevy models are leaders in any of the segments the brand is present in, sadly. Beat, Enjoy and Tavera are probably the only models selling half decent volumes for the company.
