The powertrains on offer with the new Fortuner are a 2.7-litre petrol motor (offered only with 2WD, but with both manual and auto transmission) and a 2.8-litre diesel motor (gets an option of 2WD & 4WD, and manual and auto transmission). Notable features include bi-beam headlamps, Smart Entry, LED tail lamps, powered boot lid. Transmission option includes a 6-speed auto box with paddle shifts. Just for reference, here is how the prices of the Ford Endeavour stack up against the Fortuner. Endeavour prices range between Rs. 23.78 lakh to 29.77 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. That's about Rs. 2 lakh lower than the base Fortuner - and it's a diesel 4x2, while the Fortuner base model is a petrol. At the top-end the Endeavour 3.2 Titanium, fully loaded is Rs. 29.77 lakh which is Rs. 1.3 lakh lower than the Fortuner.

It is, in fact, an all-new Fortuner. The new 2016 Fortuner is longer than the existing one. It measures: 4795 mm (L) x 1855 mm (W) x 1845 mm (H) compared to the existing Fortuner which is 4705mm x 1840mm x 1850mm. The wheelbase is exactly the same at 2750 mm for both. [B]Toyota Fortuner 2016 variants[/B] In India, the new Toyota Fortuner will be sold in [B]six variants[/B] – two petrol variants and four diesel variants. The petrol variants are powered by a 2.7 litre (2694 cc) four-cylinder petrol motor with a 4x2 five-speed manual transmission and a 4x2 with 6-speed automatic transmission. There are no 4x4 variants in petrol. The 2.7 litre petrol engine puts out 166PS (122Kw) of power at 5200 rpm and 245 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n20321[/ATTACH] The four diesel variants will come only with the 2.8 litre (2755 cc) four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 177PS (130Kw) of power at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 1600 – 2400 rpm. The 2.4 litre diesel engine that is offered in Thailand and Australia, may not be offered in India for now. The diesel variants of the Toyota Fortuner include a 4x2 diesel with six-speed manual transmission, a 4x2 diesel with a six-speed automatic transmission, 4x4 diesel with six-speed manual transmission and a 4x4 diesel with six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic variants come with paddle shifts. Toyota has removed a few features for the Indian version – a key feature of which is the rear differential lock, which is there on the Thai and Aussie variants (the Ford Endeavour 3.2 4WD has it). The top-end variants come with 18-inch wheels with 265/60 R18 tyres. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n20322[/ATTACH] [B]Toyota Fortuner 2016 features[/B] In terms of features, the new Toyota Fortuner has quite a few. The cabin feels a lot plusher compared to the outgoing Fortuner. It comes with traction control, ABS and six airbags and all-round disc brakes. It gets cruise control, parking sensors and a touchscreen infotainment system similar to the Toyota Innova Crysta. However, compared to its arch rival the Ford Endeavour, it does miss out on a few things like panoramic sun-roof, automatic park assist, multiple terrain modes and differential lock. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n20323[/ATTACH] The Toyota Fortuner 4x4 has now become a part-time four-wheel drive without the centre differential unlike the outgoing one which was a full-time four-wheel drive with lockable centre differential. This has been done in the interest of fuel economy, but it also means it requires a little more driver intervention when heading off-road unlike the earlier Fortuner.
