American cruiser giant Harley Davidson has launched the 2017 lineup in India. The latest range also includes Road Glide Special and the Roadster, launched today. The Road Glide Special is priced at INR 32.81 lacs while the Roadster is priced at INR 9.7 Lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The most important piece of news is that all their models are now equipped with ABS! That means, even the cheapest model, the Street 750 is now equipped with ABS. Hopefully, this inclusion will bring an end to the braking woes in Street 750. The bike is stripped of unnecessary weight and is designed to look like a focussed, garage-built custom. The bike is equipped top cycle parts like 43mm inverted forks, dual front discs, chopped fender and a slender fuel tank. The riding position is also slightly aggressive, at least by cruiser standards. The Roadster is powered by a Vee twin 1200 cc Evolution engine churning out 96 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Road Glide Special has a more bagger-like flair to it, thanks to the hard-case panniers at the rear. True to the Road Glide's design language, there is a shark-nose fairing which is mounted to the frame at the front. The bike is loaded to gills (pardon the pun) with features like touchscreen infotainment system, BOOM! Box 6.5 GT audio system with USB ports, keyless ignition, adjustable shockers and LED headlamps. The bike is powered by the new 1,745cc V-twin Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine belting out 150 Nm torque at just 3,250 rpm. The new powerplant promises purer sound, better throttle response and more refinement, making touring even more . The new engine gets an eight valve configuration (four valves per cylinder) and oil-cooled cylinder heads. The ex-showroom (Delhi) prices of 2017 range are as follows: Street 750: INR 4.91 lac Iron 883: INR 7.99 lac 1200 Custom: INR 9.29 lac Forty-Eight: INR 9.50 lac Roadster: INR 9.70 lac Street Bob: INR 10.67 lac Fat Bob: INR 13.09 lac Fat Boy: INR 16.35 lac Heritage Softail Classic: INR 17.79 lac Road King: INR 26.49 lac Street Glide Special: INR 31.25 lac Road Glide Special: INR 32,81 lac CVO Limited: INR 50.62 lac The CVO Limited, in its 2017 guise employs the new Milwaukee Eight 1,868cc V-twin engine that gives out 168Nm of torque (ten percent more than the older engine's output) at a measly 3,250rpm. It also features adjustable suspension, Box 6.5GT infotainment system, keyless ignition and the whole shebang. According to an article in Economic Times talks are going on with HD's business partners and the financial services will be launched by the end of this calendar year. “Of our total sales, 50-60 per cent of bikes go out through finances. So, it’s a huge number. We want to offer customized loans to people so that they can buy out products at their convenience”, says Harley-Davidson India's Managing Director Vikram Pawah.
