The Dzire uses the FGT and the Ertiga uses the VGT , which gives higher torque. So for the AMT, they may need to recalibrate. The Tata Zest, which comes with the same engine as Ertiga also gets an AMT, but then the gearbox would differ. In Diesel there are very few options in Automatic MUVs, with Innova being in a much higher segment. The Hexa would also fit in the segment but then it will be in a higher priced segment.

I don't think you have any in that price range. Your closest option would be a Scorpio diesel AT (third row not that spacious) that would cost you near 14 lakh (ex-showroom). I would recommend you Honda BR-V petrol automatic. It's spacious, fuel-efficient and will fit in your budget. Are you against diesel cars as such? Or is it the fuel-efficiency that is stopping you? Honda BR-V petrol AT returns 16 km/l (claimed).

The petrol automatic is a 4-speed torque converter automatic and not AMT. The Dzire diesel AMT is not garnering enough sales, so i doubt they will bring in the same in Ertiga (which has the same 1.3-litre diesel motor).

It's primarily a cosmetic update, and there will be hardly any mechanical changes to the Ertiga. Ertiga already gets an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) diesel variant in India. Have you driven the AMT variant? A proper automatic transmission (in diesel) is not likely to make it to India anytime soon.
