Especially if you have a cramped parking space in your apartment. Looks like form took over function while designing the bonnet scoop. The rear tail lamp design is quite captivating. MINI badge is offset unlike its siblings. Pull-type hande bars a neat touch. One door too many? Expect the panoramic sunroof to be part of standard equipment for India. The shark fin antenna at the rear looks really good. The air vent on the front sill is claimed to improve aerodynamics. The interior looks premium. The centre-mounted screen is attention grabbing. Seats get quilted leather and will be available in different shades. Rear seats look comfy and there is plenty of space on offer. The steering wheel feels rich and gets a host of buttons to control various functions. Who doesn't love toggle switches! The Cooper S Clubman will come with this heads-up display as standard. Even though LED headlamps are an option in other markets, expect the top-of-line version to come with these as standard in India. Host of accessories will be on offer from Day One. Larger wheels enhance the looks by a huge margin but will definitely hamper ride quality. Union Jack motif on the ORVMs will be part of the options list... Feeling patriotic and don't want the Union Jack? Then, you can go for the checkered flag design as shown below. Overview MINI is all set to launch the Clubman estate in the country on December 15, 2016. When launched, the Clubman would become the largest MINI on sale in the country. This estate, with the barn-style doors at the rear, is larger than the Countryman crossover. The Clubman, with styling cues borrowed from its siblings like the oval headlamps, large single-frame grille and clamshell bonnet, will be the second brand new model from the BMW-owned British manufacturer. The MINI Convertible was the only other model that was launched in the country this year. On the inside, the Clubman shares the same dashboard design as the Cooper with a centrally mounted round binnacle which houses the rather large touchscreen infotainment system. The Clubman, like the Cooper and the Cooper S, will be offered with a host of customisation options as well. Compared to the 5-door version of the MINI Cooper S, the Clubman is 270mm longer and 90mm wider. The wheelbase is 100mm longer too which should translate to better interior space. The boot capacity is rated at 360 litres which can be further expanded by folding the rear seats. Like the Cooper, the Clubman too will be available in three variants - the Cooper Clubman, Cooper S Clubman and the Cooper D Clubman. Since the Cooper Clubman shares the same front-wheel drive UKL platform, expect the same engine options to make its way here - the 1.5-litre TwinTurbo three cylinder petrol engine that puts out 136PS and 220Nm of torque, a larger 2.0-litre TwinTurbo four-cylinder engine that develops 192PS and 280Nm of torque and the 2.0-litre TwinTurbo four-cylinder diesel that has an output of 150PS and 330Nm of torque. Internationally, the Clubman is offered with the choice of six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. However, expect BMW India to give the manual option a miss for our country. BMW India hasn’t revealed the Cooper Clubman’s price yet, but expect it to be the most expensive MINI on sale in the country at a starting price of Rs 40 lakh for the base variant.
