CorsaVeloce NikilSJ - Willing to contribute to this thread by bringing in my 330i. Different body style and sensible pricing but the same amount of fun. Much better than comparing it to a m3 with a v8. Lets do a 330d vs 330i shootout someday. I also have a friend who would be willing to get his new generation f30 328i as well.

I LOVE SUCH QUESTIONS :D . Since you asked a twin turbo 4.4L v8 is one of the few answers that come to my mind :P on a serious note, one of the points you missed (playing the devil's advocate here) is the fuel quality, with the diesel engine you're pretty much set to go anywhere, with the 4.4 V8 you're at the mercy of the fuel availability and hence limited range.

True you can't compare a diesel to a naturally aspirated V8 I Live For Speed. But what I meant was for our road conditions and congested cities, where could you properly unleash that 4.4-litre V8. You would need a racetrack or a closed road to go all out and take the car to its limit. That's where I think the 330d comes in. That 3-litre diesel is one of the best motors in the world. It drinks less fuel than the V8, has accessible power across the rev range and goes like stink. Softer springs than the M3/M4 mean you can use it to commute everyday and avoid paying the chiropractor's inflated bill. What more could one ask for.
