Chaitanyap, it's easy. Chuck the Chevrolet Beat diesel and the Hyundai Grand i10 and just go for the Figo 1.5 TDCi. Ford's new diesel engine offers the most amount of fun with 100PS and 215Nm of torque. The only diesel car you can get in this price range is the VW Ameo. The Figo is very efficient too. My neighbour Geo owns one which has done close 15,000 clicks so far. It returns a very commendable 19.4 kmpl on a daily basis. The Figo also handles way better than the other cars mentioned here and has a nice interior too.

[QUOTE_NODE]"Originally posted by chaitanyap" hi all,It feels great to be part of this forum and here comes my first post!I own a 2004 limited edition Santro Xing XS and considering to upgrade to one of these diesel cars.Contacted the local dealers already and below are the most optimistic prices for each of them.Model - Onroad price(Hyderabad) - Discount - Final price (INR)Beat LT - 734000 - 97000 - 630000Grand i10 - 720000 - 60000 - 660000Figo trend - 720000-40000-680000(not 100% sure about the discount)I liked the comfort and engine performance of all the three but need some expert advice relating to practicality and other points to consider while choosing a diesel car.TIA Regards,Chaitanya. [/QUOTE_NODE] Between the three cars that you have short listed, the Beat will be the most efficient for sure, with figures of 20kmpl+ in the city but the thing about all Chevrolet cars is that long term reliability is an issue along with the low resale value. Also, the 998cc diesel motor is very mediocore and not as refine as the ones on the Grandi10 and Figo. Between the Figo and the Grand i10, I personally go for the Figo as it is a newer 1.5L TDCi is a gem of an engine and makes for an amazing drive. The Grand i10's 1.2; 3 cylinder engine seems low on enthusiasm for sure.
