[U][B]Indian Car Of The Year (ICOTY)[/B][/U] The Indian Car Of The Year 2017 was announced in Mumbai on December 20,2016. The 12th edition of the prestigious award was handed over by the Dr Raghupati Singhania, chairman & managing director of JK Tyre & Industries Limited to the team of Maruti Suzuki for the [B]Vitara Brezza[/B]. Chairman of the ICOTY Jury Bob Rupani handed over the certificate signed by all jury members of the ICOTY 2017. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n22432[/ATTACH] Nineteen new cars launched in 2016 qualified for the awards of which 13 made it to the final jury round which was held on the 7th of December, 2016 in Lonavala. The top contenders were the [B]Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Elantra, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Innova Crysta and the Skoda Superb[/B]. While the [B]Vitara Brezza[/B], this year’s most favoured car, emerged as the winner, the [B]Hyundai Tucson[/B] and [B]Toyota Innova Crysta[/B] clinched the second and third spot respectively. The jury for ICOTY 2017 included Yogendra Pratap (Auto Today), Rahul Ghosh (Auto Today), Dhruv Behl (AutoX), Ishan Raghava (AutoX), Aspi Bathena (Car India), Jim Gorde (Car India), Sirish Chandran (Evo India), Aninda Sardar (Evo India), Kartik Ware (Motoring World), Bertrand D’Souza (Overdrive), Bob Rupali (Overdrive), Girish Karkera (TopGear), Sriram Narayan (TopGear), Muralidhar Swaminathan (The Hindu Business Line) and Pablo Chaterji (Mans World).
