The Forum team decided to take a road trip with the The Roadographer and friends. This time, it was a Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi trip with 13 other cars and almost 50 people. Just brilliant. The choice of wheels for us was the newly launched Hyundai Tucson. This vehicle has won some awards in the last month and it was time for us to find out why. By this drive, I aimed to put the Tucson through some tests on the 1000 km long journey. The route we decided to take was rather simple ; Delhi - Sonepat - Ambala - Ludhiana - Jalandhar - Amritsar. I was behind the wheel on this one. NikilSJ was the official DJ and we had Praveen drift in and out of sleep on the rear seat. Great Fun! The Hyundai Tucson After the success of the Hyundai Creta, I think the folks at Hyundai started to take that segment of the market more seriously and have now completed their SUV portfolio in India - The Creta, Tucson and the range topping Santa Fe. Currently only available with the 2 wheel drive configuration, the all wheel drive is suppose to come in this year as well. When the initial chatter was going on about the Tucson arriving here, I was very curious to know about the engine that they would plonk in the hood. Cut to end of last year, the Tucson is launched at a starting price of Rs. 18.99 lakhs (Base Petrol) and all the way upto Rs. 24.99 lakhs (Diesel Auto). My expectations were high from the diesel variant as it's the first Hyundai to debut with the all-new 2.0-litre R e-VGT (electronic Variable Geometry Turbocharger) mill that develops 185 PS of power and 400Nm of peak torque. Very impressive figures. The Run The Roadographer, Roshun along with some others had planned this one out extremely well. Below is a screenshot of what our itinerary looked like for the 2 days To be Continued -
