Monk4rdist, that is true. The EcoSport has been trailing the Vitara Brezza because of the lack of some important features. You are right about Ford removing features from some of the variants. from what I've heard, the EcoSport no longer comes with driver seat armrest, lumbar support, cooled glovebox, leather-wrapped handbrake and gear lever and chrome scuff plates - all of which were standard on the top-end Titanium model. My dad drives one with the Ecoboost engine and as far as I know, the lack of the reverse parking camera doesn't bother him so much as there are sensors. However, what I have noted is that the sensor doesn't take into account the spare wheel on the tailgate. That is why you see a lot of them with dented tailgates roaming around the city. He is also happy with the adjustable lumbar support which he says is what makes him drive from Chennai to Trivandrum non-stop. The Punto he had earlier had terrible seats that used to give him a back ache after long runs. Ford is likely to correct all these issues with the facelift that is likely to be launched soon.

This was a much-needed update with the Ecosport. I feel the touchscreen placement could have been better. But being a mid-life update, you can't complain much. The 17-inch alloys is a welcome addition, a first in this segment. I hope these changes keeps the Ecosport sales ticking till the refreshed 2017 Ecosport makes it to India by mid-2017.

Ford India has introduced a new variant of the EcoSport called the Platinum Edition. This version sits above the Titanium trim and comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and a rear parking camera. No word yet on wether this ‘edition’ is a limited edition or not yet, but let’s just hope that it is since this is exactly what the EcoSport needed to take on the Vitara Brezza in our market. Other additions on this version include a dual-tone look with a black roof, new 17-inch wheels with wider tyres and silver-finish scuff plated on the front and rear bumper. Like the Titanium edition, the Platinum too will come with six airbags as standard. With these changes, the EcoSport looks a lot fresher until the proper facelift arrives sometime next year. The Ford Sync app is not available with the new touchscreen. Cruise control is standard on the Platinum Edition. In terms of powertrain, the Platinum Edition will come with two engine options instead of the standard three - the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with 100PS and a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.27kmpl and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with 125PS or power and a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.88kmpl. The Platinum Edition is priced at Rs 10.39 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the EcoBoost variant and Rs 10.69 lakh for the diesel variant.
