Coupled with Yamaha's reliability, I think the FZ 25 has a lot of potential in today's quarter litre segment. If only Yamaha provides ABS as an option!

[/QUOTE_NODE] That's exactly what I was thinking. With a 6-speed gearbox, this bike could have been the best tourer for people on a budget. It's way cheaper than a Honda CBR250 which many say is the ideal bike to tour the country in. I think with the addition of a couple of accessories like a wind deflector and a couple of panniers, the FZ25 should be a very practical tourer.

Going by the spec sheet, the Yamaha FZ25 produces the peak torque at the lowest rpm among the three and Yamaha claims that this bike can zip through traffic effortlessly, particularly between 30-50 kph where the torque band is strong. Also, a bigger front disc means better stopping power and I really want to see how it fares against the Apache in terms of braking. The Apache's braking is one of the best I've seen. It has got a great bite and is progressive too. The large fuel tank and the not-so-committed riding position will be ideal for those who are looking to tour. With a five-speed transmission, the bike should be able to cruise at around 100 kph but a six-speed one would've helped extract more from the oil-cooled engine.

Here's a spec-by-spec comparison of the Yamaha FZ25 against its major rivals - the KTM 200 Duke, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V:[ATTACH=CONFIG]n22865[/ATTACH] It must be said that for the price Yamaha is charging, the FZ25's specs look killer. However, the lack of ABS in any of the above bikes is a dampener. But fret not, as all manufacturers will have to provide ABS on all their bikes from 2018 onwards. The Yamaha FZ25 is the only bike here to come with LED DRLs and headlamps but these features too will be mandatory on all bikes come 2018. For now, it looks like Yamaha has a winner...at least till KTM brings out the new 200 Duke.

Don't know why, but Yamaha got lazy in-between. They were one of the first manufacturers to kickstart the faired-performance motorcycle segment and I remember my college parking lot used to be filled with hundreds of R15's in different colours and it was such a beautiful sight! I wish Yamaha were on their toes right from the beginning. With the advent of Dominar, the competition has shaken-up quite a bit. Regarding the FZ 25, only a proper ride will let us know how the bike really is. I'm getting a feeling that it won't disappoint, considering it's a Yamaha.

At a time where 400cc bikes are competing with 200cc bikes, Yamaha has brought in this bike. Moreover, it lacks in equipment in comparison with the segment. While the segment is at 6 speed, and ABS on most bikes, Yamaha has kept a 5speed. Hopefully the later addition of ABS would be helpful. The FZ series was known as a great city bike with light weight and great handling. The FZ 2.0 gained a lot of popularity with its nimble handling and engine. The FZ 25 would take it to the next level. Yamaha has always been known to price their bikes higher than the segment and I would not expect an exception here. Even though a small set, but still there are many would would prefer a Yamaha over other options purely for the brand's racing DNA and the reliability.

Yamaha's street bike family, the FZ series receives a new addition to their portfolio- the FZ 250. This quarter-litre bike is purportedly Yamaha's most powerful made-in-India motorcycle and is priced at [B]INR 1,19,500[/B], ex-showroom, Delhi. The FZ 25 is powered by a single cylinder 249cc air-cooled engine with an oil cooler. The performance figure is rather balanced, at 20.9 PS of power at 8,000 rpm and 20.0 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. All that power is transferred to the rear wheels via a five-speed transmission with the fifth gear acting as the overdrive. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n22793[/ATTACH] Yamaha says the bike has been tuned specifically for India, particularly the ignition, intake, and the exhaust system. The engine comes with Yamaha's 'Blue Core' technology and the fuel delivery is done with the help of a fuel injector. As expected, the bike conforms to BS 4 emission norms. ABS, sadly, has been given a miss owing to cost constraints. That's quite a lot of useful information, I'd say! The fuel tank is also generous, at 14 liters. Yamaha claims a fuel efficiency of about 43 kpl. So ideally, one can ride this bike up to 600 km on a tank full. That means, the real world range should be at least 500 km, which is quite commendable for a naked street bike. Moreover, the split seats offer ample padding and the seating position is likely to be comfortable over long distance rides as well. The front wheel has a 282 mm disc with twin-piston calipers while the rear wheel is anchored by 220 mm single-piston disc. The handling is nimble, thanks to the low wet weight of just 148 kg. The frame is the same diamond-type structure as found in the FZ- S/ FZ 16. Continuing with the FZ's tradition, this bike also gets a fat set of tyres. The front is a 100 section while the rear is a generous 140 section and both the tyres are tubeless. The new FZ 25 is placed in the segment above the 150-200cc category and will be ideal for customers and enthusiasts who are looking to upgrade from their run-of-the-mill 150cc commuters. Personally, I feel Yamaha should've come with this bike a lot earlier, and with ABS. But the silver lining is, Yamaha plans to add ABS to this motorcycle in the future while the ABS rule is enforced. One thing that bothers me is, how'd Yamaha place the upcoming R15 Version 3.0? Considering it produces similar output as the FZ 25 does, but will probably be more expensive owing to better cycle parts. However, we still have a lot of time to see how that pans out because the expected launch date of the R15 Version 3 is only by the end of this year or next year beginning. So, what do you guys think?
