Q.Toyota Fortuner stiff and bumpy ride

After many years of being into cars as a hobby, I somehow now find myself with my first truck. I know I bought a unicorn and made a good purchase (2000 Ford Explorer, 5 speed, 4x4 w/ 3.73s and LSD, 4.0 OHV, 165K miles, 100% rust free, $2000), but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I'm familiar with Rangers and used to own one, which is why I got an Explorer but I have no clue which route to take with it. Where would be the best place to ask some 4x4 questions? I have the basics figured out like what lift I want but am getting a bit hung up on the smaller details like whether I should run 31x10.5 or 33x12.5 tires, which ones to get, whether I really need a solid front axle swap for light to medium off-roading (not rock crawling), how steep of an angle I can try to climb, etc.
