Its good that they maintained the same output even after downsizing.Chevrolet squeeze's 166ps and 360nm from their Cruze's 2.0L engine.would be nice to see others moving in the same direction now that they will have to keep the 2.0L target like the under 4metre compact vehicle mania here.

Mahindra and Mahindra launched its downsized diesel engine today. The 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine is a downsized version of the 2.2-litre mHawk engine. This move is aimed at tackling the recent ban on registration of diesel vehicles with more that 2000cc engines in the Delhi-NCR region. This motor will put out a claimed 120bhp in the Scorpio and 140bhp in the XUV500. The Motor is a downsized M-Hawk, now displacing 1997 cc!
Although some say - "there is no replacement for displacement"
That might well be true. After moving to the 2.2 mHawk Scorpio, I missed my original 2.6TDI Scorpio. Felt like nothing could beat that engine in terms of driveability. However the same 2.2 mHawk in the XUV500 is a pleasure to drive be it in the city traffic or on the highway. So with smart mapping, the 1.9 might also be everything that the 2.2 is.
