Sorry for replying so late [USER="21"]JijoMalayil[/USER] . The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is a pick-up I'm going to keep a close eye on. Though my drive was brief - I drove it around a gravel track for about 1km and could look in and about the thing for about 15-odd minutes - first impressions were good. Engine felt responsive with very little lag, steering has good feedback though its return is a tad too fast, the cabin is spacious, the interiors feel good, there is decent amount of equipment (at least on the top-of-the-line variant) and it has a usable bay. Suspension absorbs most road imperfections well except for sharp bumps - these can send the rear passengers crashing into the roof if the driver is too enthusiastic - this could be remedied if you keep some weight over the rear axle. The clutch is not very heavy, while you cannot shift through the gears too fast. Off-road ability seems to be good - switching from 2WD to 4H is a twist of a knob. You can switch to 4L after bringing the V-Cross to a complete stop, putting the pick-up in neutral and taking your foot off the clutch. In the photo in the post by Jijo above - we just reversed the V-Cross up a gradient with loose gravel and it didn't complain even a bit. It looks good in BROWN! [USER="685"]Kamran[/USER] Yeah, we had to settle for a Thar just because it had a descent load bay & off-course for its off-road capabilities. But now, its getting difficult to do a family visit to our plantations with no second row of seats. Second row of seats, 4-wheel drive + large load bay just makes sense. Hope they price it well!

There is one big problem with the double cab pick up trucks. They are not SUV's so everything depends on what purpose you are buying them for. That empty load bay at the back is completely useless if you are a city person. Your Maruti 800 would carry 5 passengers and a couple of suitcases at the back without getting the suitcases drenched in the rain or dusty. Double cab pick ups, cannot do that. What ever you load at the back will get rained on and on dusty roads, your belongings will get ...well dusty. That hard top load bay is completely useless and will rattle itself lose on our roads or off them. The only thing going for this one is from what I hear it will cost. Rs 15 lacs? Seriously? If so, sure I would go for one of these to do the same duties the Thar would do, but in most cases that real estate at the back will be of little use in the city, let alone be an open invitation to a thief to steal away your weekend shopping. Having said this, I have used DC pick ups on farms in Africa and they don't just look the part but also do the hard jobs with aplomb. If you are a city dweller, which most of us are, a DC pickup truck does not make much sense, an SUV does. But if you are a farmer or in the job of carrying loads to places where there are no roads and want comfort along with it, then there is nothing better than a Single/Double Cab pickup Truck. Absolutely nothing. So the purpose for which you are buying these is of primary importance.

Its a very nicely executed load bay cover. The market for such a product is very limited, but this is perhaps the first vehicle of its kind that actually promises to deliver without any major compromises on design, fit and finish, equipment or comfort. The cabin is definitely more appealing than that of the Scorpio or Safari Storme.

Now that's a truck with character! Slap on some sweet alloys and F-A-T MT tires, the kind of which Mahindra had on that modded Thar, and it will become one mean machine. Perhaps they should offer something like that as standard equipment, for this is obviously a lifestyle vehicle. Surprising that the interiors are so similar to the Chevy Trailblazer, not that its a bad thing in any way. Overall an impressive product from an absolute fringe player in the market.

Looks big and butch, but visibility all around is pretty good. It's not really one that you would use every day though - it's probably going to be the 2nd vehicle in a multi-car household.

Here's a video walkaround of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. If Isuzu wants to get into the offroader market, this is the vehicle that will do it for them. The MU7 / MUX are rather pricey, but this would create a space right above the Getaway and Xenon market - a space that does not quite have a lifestyle pick up in it yet. Will it work? The D-Max V-Cross has a fairly spacious cabin. It will also feature a touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth, GPS navigation. This variant though had only manual HVAC, although automatic climate control is also an option. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n4095[/ATTACH] The rear seats look fairly comfortable, although leg-room seems low. The seats can be flipped up for some more luggage carrying ability. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n4096[/ATTACH] The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross 4x4 variant uses a shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system. The rotary shifter is just behind the 5-speed gear shift. There are adequate storage spaces, a couple of cupholders and an armrest with a storage box under it. It comes with seating for five in a double cab body design with a rugged load bay. It will come in both 4x2 and 4x4 variants. It has a 2.5 litre engine that puts out 136PS of power and 320 Nm of torque, with 16 inch wheels and 235/70 R16 tyres. The D-Max V-Cross will be made at its factory in Andhra Pradesh. I love the way the D-Max V-Cross looks. Well, I am an SUV fan and this one just checks all the right boxes. 134 bhp and 320 Nm torque with a low-ratio, shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive is just what the off-roader ordered! :-)

The V Cross starts a segment of it's own and should be a success given the utility loving nature of the Indian consumer. Mahindra has something to worry about, and should be interesting to see what they do to the Getaway The looks of the car are very aggresive and it has a American style high loading bay, which may not go down too well with the Indian buyers.
