Q.Auto Expo 2016: Jaguar Unveils F-Pace, It's First Crossover

With JLR all set to launch the refreshed XF sedan in India, sources reveal that the F-Pace will also be launched in the same month. So expect an October third week launch for Jaguar's first crossover and fastest-selling model, in India.

Jaguar F-Pace becomes the fastest selling JLR product in company's history. Jaguar's first ever crossover has crossed the 30,000 unit sales mark since its launch in April this year. The company also revealed that around 90% of the F-Pace buyers are new to the brand, with the age group between 40 and 50 years of age being the most active in this lot. Jaguar F-Pace will be launched in India before the end of this year and was recently spotted testing.

Jaguar has unveiled the specifications for the F-Pace for India. First unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, the F-Pace will be Jaguar’s first SUV to launch in India. It will be available in three trims - Pure, Prestige and R-Sport. All the variants will be equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox sourced from ZF and will come with all-wheel drive as standard. Here’s a breakdown of the equipment on offer: [U][B]F-Pace Pure[/B][/U] The Pure variant will come with cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch allow wheels, 10-way power adjustable front seats, Jaguar Land Rover’s In Control Touch infotainment system. Front rear parking sensors, All Surface Progress Control system, heated and power folding ORVMs and brake pad wear indicator. [U][B]F-Pace Prestige[/B][/U] The F-Pace Prestige edition comes with all of the above features in addition to Taurus leather upholstery, rear-parking camera, headlamp washers, additional exterior chrome detailing and auto-dimming internal rear-view mirror. [U][B]F-Pace R-Sport[/B][/U] The R-Sport gets a sportier body kit, LED headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, mood lighting, larger front brakes, gesture control for the powered tailgate, power adjustable front seats with memory function, power adjustable steering column, reclining rear sea, JLR’s InControl Touch PRo infotainment system and surround-camera system. The F-Pace Pure and Prestige editions will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine capable of churning out 180hp and hitting a ton in 8.7 seconds. The R-Sport on the other hand will be equipped with a much larger 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 300hp and will hit a ton in 6.2 seconds. The F-Pace range is likely to be priced around Rs 80 lakh for the Pure variant. Expect the top-of-the-line F-Pace R-Sport to cost more than a crore rupee.

The Jaguar F-Pace will come in three variants, the Pure being the base version, the Prestige the mid, and the R-Sport being the top-end trim. A ‘First Edition version is also listed on the website and might be offered at a later stage or at the time of the launch. All the four trims will be offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with Jaguar Sequential Shift having an all-wheel drive set-up. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n14331[/ATTACH] Two diesel options - a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which produces 182 PS, and will found its way into the Pure and Prestige variants. 0-100 km/h comes in 8.7 seconds in this iteration, top speed rated at 208 kmph. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n14329[/ATTACH] A 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel engine which produces 304 PS and will be available with the R-Sport and the First Edition trims. 0-100 km/h is covered in 6.2 seconds is what the V6 motor offers, top speed 241 kmph. Yeah the Macan is its main rival but prices are different. There are not many sports SUV's around at the moment so it's hard to categorise them. Someone here has seen them both, says the Macan is a lot smaller.

It's not just India that loves SUV's though they are selling like crazy all over the world and the trend appears to be only growing in 'Pace'

So Jaguar's first SUV in its 70 year long history, the F-Pace was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. Built on the same modular aluminium platform as the new XE and XF, F-Pace will be placed in the mid-size premium SUV category. [CENTER] [ATTACH=CONFIG]n5097[/ATTACH] [/CENTER] Dimensions stand at 4731 mm in length, 1936 mm in width and 1652 mm in height, and with a wheelbase of 2874, which is more than a BMW X3. The ground clearance stands at 213 mm, making it a more an SUV than a cross-over as Jaguar calls it. Being modest I guess! [CENTER] [ATTACH=CONFIG]n5102[/ATTACH] [/CENTER] Globally F-Pace comes with a choice of one petrol and two diesel options alongside rear and four-wheel drive options. 80 % of F-Pace’s body is made of aluminium and weighs just 298 kilograms. Other parts weight saving techniques includes steel doors, composite magnesium tailgate and front end parts. [ATTACH=CONFIG]n5103[/ATTACH] Engine options include 2.0 litre four-cylinder, same as in the XE and XF developing 178 bhp of power. 0-100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. Impressive! V6 diesel on the other hand produces 296 bhp and can do 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.8 seconds. The V6 supercharged petrol puts out 375 bhp, and accelerate from standstill to triple digit speeds in an impressive 5.1 seconds! The F-Pace unveiled at the Auto Expo was left-hand drive version, interiors was typical Jaguar with those neat & simplistic design cues. A 50:50 weight distribution, and the ability to send half the torque to the front wheels when required with All Surface Progress Control and Low-Friction Launch Systems.
