More old vs new classics: Toyota has always been a big player in the volume game. Its cars tick all the right boxes for the average consumer - reliability, durability, robustness and efficiency. The design language has changed radically, unlike other brands who have carried their cues forward. Some say that the MINI is no longer a MINI, but whoever has driven them would strongly disagree. The original MINI was famous for its crisp handling and linear power delivery. The newest ones have managed to carry this forward, along with the introduction of new variants (diesel, Clubman etc.) to cater to the different types of customers world over. The big block 'Stingray' was considered the pinnacle of the American Automobile industry for few decades after its launch. The sheer magnitude of power, and the ease of driving was something new during that era. The new Corvette tries to carry on the legacy along with the ease of ownership. It looks like a million bucks and roars like one too! If you are aware of the legacy of the Maybach, you probably have heard it being called the "pinnacle of luxury motoring". The original 1939 model, as pictured here, was a product for the ultra-rich and flamboyant of those times. In the middle, the brand did suffer from the World War consequences and went on to manufacturing tanks for Nazi Germany. But it was able to make a massive comeback with the Maybach 57 and the more powerful 62. Enzo Ferrari was a man obsessed with fast, sleek and dynamic cars. Since the very start, Ferrari has established itself as the one brand everyone wants to own, whether one is an enthusiast or not! Ferrari has built cars which have pushed the benchmark higher every time. The Modena, as pictured along with the GTO, share a lot even if they are 40 years apart!

Most of the iconic cars of the last century have evolved over the years, and still remain a style icon. Also, most of these managed to create a cult among owners and enthusiasts alike. Here is a list of some of them which remain close to the heart. The iconic 1955 Mercedes SL300 Roadster became iconic almost instantly with its gull-wing doors. Mercedes re-introduced these in the limited edition SLS. The Volkswagen Beetle has been subject to multiple facelifts since its original inception as the "People's Car" of Germany. However, the 2016 Bug looks all grown-up and macho as compared to its great grandfather. The latest M4 is a new-age version of the first ever E30 M3. The new nomenclature of BMW is what made them change the "M3 Coupe" to the "M4" The original Lamborghini Countach was the car which changed the fortunes of the company. It was fast, agile and did not want to kill the driver. The same legacy has been carried forward in the extremely limited edition Lamborghini Reventon. The original Jaguar was a British icon, and was appreciated by folks all over the world. And since then, Jaguar has come a long way and has seen a lot of owners. However, it marked the beginning of a great era ahead after Tata bought it out. The new XF and XJ L are examples of how this brand has a strong future. VW Golf has always been an enthusiast's car (too bad we don't get them here!), and the choice for every young adult with some enthusiasm. Right from the Mk1 to the current earth-moving Golf GTI, they are a pleasure to drive and own! The "Spirit of Ecstasy" has also seen a major transformation since its inception as a luxury British car maker. The new ownership, by the Bavarians (BMW), has pushed up the quality and drivability of this a LOT! The new Phantom is not only a delight to sit in, but also one to get behind the wheel!
