Q.Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza - Launched!
415 Views Add Comment39 CommentsNikil | 8 years agoIt's confirmed! Maruti Suzuki will start delivering the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza from March 25th. For a detailed review of Maruti's first compact SUV, click here.
Nikil | 8 years agoMaruti Suzuki has signed an agreement with BCCI and will now become the official partner of IPL for the 2016 and 2017 season. Maruti Suzuki will be showcasing the Vitara Brezza at all IPL matches as the manufacturer believes the cricket series is a strong platform to reach its target audience. Maruti Suzuki will also have a strong on-air presence and social media initiatives to promote the Vitara Brezza. The company has received 5,600 bookings for the Vitara Brezza so far.
Roshun | 8 years agoAlmost all reviews of the Brezza so far have been fairly consistent about what they are saying - plastic quality is average, and NVH levels in the cabin are not that great being the only negatives really about the car. Most find the driving position to be good, features are good, space is decent. Turbo lag from the 1.3 multijet diesel in 90PS state of tune is evident in the Brezza too. Here's another video review, this time from CarDekho on the Vitara Brezza:
Kaiserketkar | 8 years ago
I find the front end design of the Vitara Brezza a bit too safe. This design will age pretty soon and then the inevitable will happen i.e Maruti will give the Brezza a facelift and ruin the whole design in one go!
You said it. Although "safe" or bland, depending on how you look at it... designs are what Suzuki is all about. So it isn't quite surprising. I always wonder why Suzuki don't ever make a good looking car. The only good looking car in Suzuki's lineup today is the Baleno. In fact, I'd say for a Suzuki, the Brezza is a reasonably decent looker. :D
Nikil | 8 years agoJOY MRC yes the Ciaz interior would have been a much better fit in the Vitara Brezza. In fact, I find the Ciaz interior even well put together than the S-Cross. Maruti Suzuki could have have saved some cost and lowered the price even more by borrowing stuff from the Ciaz.
JOY | 8 years agoNikilSJ Agree with you completely.I like the rear 3/4 view and especially the rear design looks fresh [TATA Hexa,Ahem ;) ].Interiors are a let down though.should have lifted from the Ciaz.Good write up
Nikil | 8 years agoThe Vitara Brezza is taking the market by storm! After 2,600 booking in 24 hours, this compact SUV looks like it is going to rule the roost for some time to come. Here's a couple of pictures of the all-new Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Vitara Brezza has a very boxy stance. Not quite to my liking but still good looking nonetheless. I find the front end design of the Vitara Brezza a bit too safe.

That chrome grille on the Vitara Brezza looks nothing like the XA Alpha concept that was shown at the 2012 Auto Expo.
The Indian buyers fetish for chrome is truly getting on my nerves now. With the option of the dual tone paint Maruti should have offered options for the grille like chrome, gun metal grey, matte black and gloss black effects too.

The Vitara Brezza comes with projector headlamps on all variants. DRLs will be offered as standard on higher trims.
However, the turn indicators look too plain jane for me and the fog lamps a bit too small.
The bonnet could have benefited from more muscular lines or bulges. This design will age pretty soon and then the inevitable will happen i.e Maruti will give the Brezza a facelift and ruin the whole design in one go!

The rear three quarter view of the Vitara Brezza is probably my favourite angle of this compact SUV. This angle truly shows the size of the car and also highlights its boxy stance.
The squared-off wheel arches look and faux skid plates give the Brezza a very rugged look that can take on anything our roads can throw at it.

A side on view is the only one where the Vitara Brezza's sub-4 metre dimensions show through. Both front and rear overhangs are minimal and this could bode well for those short off-roading jaunts on weekends.
The floating roof looks quite good in the flesh and makes the Vitara Brezza look taller than it is. However, the wheels on this test car didn't impress me much.

The interiors of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a regular Maruti fare. Though the plastics do feel a grade above the ones found in the Swift/Ritz, large grey areas like around the touchscreen console and the glovebox fail to give the interiors a premium feel. The Ford EcoSport interiors, in spite of the hard plastics, looks more modern and contemporary when compared to the Brezza.
The steering wheel is the same as the one found in the Baleno, Ciaz and the Ertiga. It gets buttons on the wheel to control functions like the infotainment system and radio.
If you look closely, you'll also spot a set of button between the left and middle spoke of the steering wheel. These buttons control bluetooth telephone functions. They do seem a bit oddly placed but you can get used to them fairly fast.
If you opt for a top-end ZDI+ trim with dual paint option, then you also get colour accents around the AV vents and the centre console as well. These little lements can greatly heighten the premium feel inside.
In terms, of storage, there is a bin ahead of the gear lever for storing coins and keys and such but the door pockets are quite shallow and can hold only a one-litre bottle.

Space at the back is good for its class. The rear seats come with a foldable armrest with cupholders as well.
However, I find the rear seat back a tad upright for my frame.
The Vitara Brezza comes with Maruti's SmartPlay infotainment system. This system also supports Apple's Carplay.

The tried and tested 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine sourced from Fiat has been employed under the hood of the Vitara Brezza. For more details on the performance and fuel efficiency of the Vitara Brezza, click here.

The Vitara Brezza has a boot space of 328 litres. That's 10 less than the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
The boot is shaped well with little cubby holes on the sides for storing small bags or tools.
The rear parcel shelf is foldable making it easy to load taller bags or suitcases. The low load lip should also make it a breeze to load luggage on to the boot.

The pictures below shows the tight metal work on the Vitara Brezza. The ridge extending from the front headlamp all the way to the middle of the rear door captures just the right amount of light and gives the compact SUV avery sporty stance.

Kaiserketkar | 8 years agoBrilliant package, ... and great pricing to boot! Suzuki have a winner on their hands. The Ford Ecosport is the one that will be affected the most. As it is they're down almost 40% YoY [Feb'16 figures]. This will kill it even further. The other big two that might be affected by the Brezza are the Duster and the Creta. Although these two are larger, the compact SUV buyer might overlook that for the price, features and the fact that it's a Suzuki. Finally, the Brezza will cannibalize on it's siblings- the Baleno and the S-Cross. More competition, Good for us, the customers! :D
Arjun | 8 years ago
The base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza undercuts the Ford EcoSport by Rs 40K.
Yes, but the variant for Brezza here is a Diesel and the Ecosport is a Petrol. An added advantage for the Brezza here is the optional safety pack with the Ldi trim for just an additional 13k. In terms of diesel top end version, it has undercut the Ecosport by a lakh. Even though the Ecosport is well equipped, it will be difficult to justify the price difference. It looks like Ford will need to do a price revision for the Ecosport soon. As Joy mentioned, this may lead to cannibalisation of the Baleno. I think this will also affect the sales of the Elite i20 Active. Price wise, this is a master stroke by Maruti.
Rhythem | 8 years agoBeautiful car, well priced and packed with great features. And as the Maruti MD said- "Whatever segment we enter, we try to take the No. 1 spot", Brezza will sell quite well.
JOY | 8 years agoEcellent Pricing and Specs.Baleno bookings might switch over to the Brezza i think.
Nikil | 8 years agoThe base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza undercuts the Ford EcoSport by Rs 40K.
Nikil | 8 years agoMaruti Suzuki says they will be proactive and work with the government in reducing pollution levels in New Delhi. But Maruti wants the government to ensure that the quality of fuel is upto the mark. As far as mild hybrid technology like SHVS is concerned, Maruti says it is possible an SHVS equipped version of the Vitara Brezza could be launched soon.

Nikil | 8 years agoThe all-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was first unveiled at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. Higher variants get a front passenger one as well. ABS will be offered as an option right from the base trim onwards and will come as standard on ZDI and ZDI+ variants. The base variant of the Vitara Brezza also undercuts the once popular Ford EcoSport by Rs 40,000. The Vitara Brezza will be available in eight colours and the top end ZDI+ version gets a dual tone paint job as well. I quite like the way Maruti has taken up the mantle of introducing fresh colors. This should do well with the younger generation. Overall, it is a well rounded package and should appeal to all those looking to upgrade from a hatch or looking for a better value for money proposition than some of the mid size sedans.
