With the recent demand by SIAM to the government, it looks like manufacturers are gearing up with Hybrid and electric cars. To confirm the earlier prediction, Nissan will be launching the X-Trail Hybrid in India in December. The X-Trail will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) which will put it in the price range of 30-35lakh. This will be the updated world version of the X-Trail that will be launched here. The car has been spotted testing on many occasions and it has already been added in the India website for Nissan. The hybrid SUV will be powered by a 2.0lt petrol engine along with a 32Kw electric motor. It will come with a X-Tronic CVT unit which is known to be more efficient than the manual transmission. There will be an AWD option also with the car. This would be the first full fledged Hybrid SUV to be launched in the country. This is the new generation X-Trail, which is different from the one sold in India previously. Source: http://auto.ndtv.com/news/id-1247041...&category=News https://www.nissan.in/X-Trail.html

Saw this at the Auto Expo this year and I was impressed with the design. The interior is also pretty good for a Nissan product. I just hope people warm up to the idea of buying a hybrid as their next car as that is surely the way forward.
