• Looking for a petrol car between Rs 11 lakh to 12 lakh for 2000 km a month

It's the last month of the year, looking for a good deal with following necessities:
- Cars with approx. budget of 11-12 lakhs in petrol for running of less than 2000 kms a month
- Ground Clearance with good suspension for smooth ride over pits and bumps
- Powerful Petrol Engine
- Would prefer a feature-rich, fully loaded vehicle instead of going for a base model
- Comparison between options available with regard to safety, looks and spares cost (after sales)

Have thought of the following:
- Nissan Terrano (Nice looks but don't have even steering mounted controls let aside other features and also seems overpriced)
- Renault Duster RxL (Not so impressed with looks as compared to Terrano and also heard that it gets noisy by age)
- Abarth Punto (No ground clearance and doubts over traction with standard Apollo tires)
- Fiat Urban Cross t-jet (no market for this don't know why)
- Hyundai Creta (I don't like personally and also overpriced)
- Any other upcoming options with given requirements would help. (What about IGNIS ?)
Monthly running of around less than 2000 kms so looking for a petrol engine.

Fiat Linea T-Jet! Ticks all your requirements. I own a Fiat Punto Diesel. Absolute bliss to drive. Do take a test drive and then decide man.

[/QUOTE_NODE] Even I was going to suggest the Linea T-Jet Kohin. I have a Fiat Punto 1.3 MJD back home in Chennai. The Linea is the sedan variant of the Punto. The ride quality and handling of both the cars are a class apart. However, you will have to be content with an awkward driving position and a slightly cramped rear seat. The Linea and the Punto swallow potholes like nothing else in the segment. Both have adequate ground clearance as well. Both cars also come with a host of features - both in terms of safety and convenience. The new versions get a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Bluetooth audio and telephony, navigation and such. They also get dual airbags and ABS with EBD. They are also built like a rock, so it should be able to keep the occupants safe in case of a crash. The Terrano and the Duster are available with petrol engines too. But I haven't seen many of them on the road and haven't got a chance yet to see how well it performs. I suggest you drive the Linea and the Honda City back to back and then decide. The City too has got a good motor and a very slick gearbox unlike the Linea which has very sticky shifts. So I would suggest you compare these two cars and go for the one that meets your requirement.

My suggestion given your requirements would be to look at the Ford EcoSport Ecoboost petrol. You get a turbo-charged petrol motor with plenty of pep. It has more than enough ground clearance to tackle bad roads. The Titanium EcoSport is pretty feature rich, including Ford's SYNC system and some other things like electronic power steering with pull-drift assist. It handles really well, and feels nice to drive. The downside, it is probably not as spacious as a Duster or Creta. Fuel efficiency if driven hard is also only about 11 kmpl, but driven properly with a light foot, it gives 15-16 kmpl.
Drink coffee and drive!

Kohin Kapoor
I'll suggest you for the Ford Ecosport. It comes with two petrol engines, 1.5L and 1.0 eco-boost. Take your pick, moreover it has 200mm of ground clearance with is very healthy for indian conditions. The quality is superb inside-out. And front has very appealing design too.

The Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha is a gem of a car. Unfortunately, its pricing has resulted in it not selling really well. That engine is phenomenal. Forum member MotuSid has booked on recently, and earlier this year the team went on a road trip in the S-Cross. See the report here: https://www.zigwheels.com/forum/post...suzuki-s-cross
