    Some observations:
    1. Renault races to 4th spot beating Honda & Tata Motors, thanks to the huge demand for Kwid.
    2. Tata Motors breaches the 10K mark following good opening of Tiago.
    3. Maruti and Hyundai maintain the same spots (and almost the same monthly figures at 100K+ and 40K+ respectively).
    Model wise summary coming soon!

Woah, I never expected Renault to climb all the way to the 4th spot. The Kwid has really turned around the French carmaker's fortunes and the updated Duster too will sell in good numbers in the coming months. I hope they get a little bit more confident now and expand their product range soon.
Also, Toyota falling to the 7th spot isn't a surprise considering the older Innova was discontinued recently. However, I reckon they will climb back up and possibly beat Tata Motors in the coming months thanks to the Innova Crysta.

Renault India sales went up by 211%, Thanks to Kwid. It sold more than the 23000 units since its launch in April 2016. I am waiting for the day when an automaker surpasses Maruti Suzuki sales.

A little correction (only in Maruti's figures though). It's only upwards for Maruti with Vitara Brezza and Baleno now.

Not happening soon. Very conservative market here, people don't accept change that easy. Maruti Suzuki has updated itself and it's products to meet the market's demand. But we see strong competition in spots 4-8. Translates into some good discounts :P

I am a bit concerned by the Jazz sales number. In previous months it has done 3000-4000 cars successfully.

Here is the sales chart of Honda Jazz for previous 12 months (with comparison to competitors):

            http://autoportal.com/honda-cars/jazz/sales-statistics/

So Jazz sales have seen a sudden drop. I wonder what the reasons are for this!

Woah, sale of the Jazz has declined so rapidly! I'm quite surprised. From 3,683 in March to just 869 in April! That's a steep decline. Honda India management might be scratching their heads and trying to figure out what happened there. At least the City has been holding steady. It's pretty sad that the Brio don't sell in 4 digit figures though. I love that car for its quirkiness and i-VTEC engine.

I don't think it is something to be alarmed about. Honda is having production constraints and needed to clear up some room on the assembly line for production of the BR-V to start off. Their Greater Noida plant is operating at full capacity. They keep altering production (and consequently sales despatches for particular models drop). This happened a few months ago with the Amaze numbers as well. The Brio and Mobilio genuinely don't sell much, but the others sell in decent numbers.

Roshun thanks a lot for the clarification. That puts my mind at peace!

btw I think along with the 'Like' button, we should have a 'Thank' button too!

Lots of design changes coming up. Soon, we'll have that functionality as well. Watch this space :-)

Data for April 2016 is out:

                          http://www.autopunditz.com/news/indi...es-april-2016/

The Tata Tiago has sold 3022 units.

IIRC the Tiago was launched on 6 April 2016. That means these figures are for 24-25 days. Still, a bit less than expected!

Here are the percentage wise growth for the month of April. Not a bad month at all for the Indian auto industry.
