• Beat LT vs Grand i10(Magna) vs Ford figo Trend

hi all, It feels great to be part of this forum and here comes my first post! I own a 2004 limited edition Santro Xing XS and considering to upgrade to one of these diesel cars. Contacted the local dealers already and below are the most optimistic prices for each of them. Model - Onroad price(Hyderabad) - Discount - Final price (INR) Beat LT - 734000 - 97000 - 630000 Grand i10 - 720000 - 60000 - 660000 Figo trend - 720000-40000-680000(not 100% sure about the discount) I liked the comfort and engine performance of all the three but need some expert advice relating to practicality and other points to consider while choosing a diesel car. TIA Regards, Chaitanya.

Chaitanyap I don't know much about beat, sales figures tell story for it. Between figo (Trend) and grand i10 (Magna), I will suggest you go ahead with Figo as it now has ABS and Dual airbags which Grand i10 has only in topmost Asta variant. But consider that new facelift of Grand i10 and Ignis will be launching soon

chaitanyap
Go for the figo, gem of a engine. The 1.5L TDCI engine is a pleasure to drive too. Plus the mileage is better than the Grand i10.

suyog
Even if the Grand i10 facelift will soon arrive, I don't think that they would change the engine. As far as Ignis is concerned it will use the same DDiS.

[/QUOTE_NODE] Between the three cars that you have short listed, the Beat will be the most efficient for sure, with figures of 20kmpl+ in the city but the thing about all Chevrolet cars is that long term reliability is an issue along with the low resale value. Also, the 998cc diesel motor is very mediocore and not as refine as the ones on the Grandi10 and Figo. Between the Figo and the Grand i10, I personally go for the Figo as it is a newer 1.5L TDCi is a gem of an engine and makes for an amazing drive. The Grand i10's 1.2; 3 cylinder engine seems low on enthusiasm for sure.
No traction, more action!

Chaitanyap, it's easy. Chuck the Chevrolet Beat diesel and the Hyundai Grand i10 and just go for the Figo 1.5 TDCi. Ford's new diesel engine offers the most amount of fun with 100PS and 215Nm of torque. The only diesel car you can get in this price range is the VW Ameo. The Figo is very efficient too. My neighbour Geo owns one which has done close 15,000 clicks so far. It returns a very commendable 19.4 kmpl on a daily basis. The Figo also handles way better than the other cars mentioned here and has a nice interior too.

Thanks all. I chose beat LT finally. Though Figo was what my heart chose, below are the things about beat that made my choice:-

1) LT model now has much additional features compared to the same version in previous years. It comes with driver airbag, tilt steering and steering mounted controls.
2) I found the steering and seating comfort the best of the lot. I'm a mediocre built person(5'6" and 65kgs) and so found the thin seats in beat much accommodating than the other too. I faced some back pain issues with santro but thought beat does the best in this regard.
3) Most importantly- I got the best discount of 1,00,000(90000 discount + 10000 extra for government employees - mom is a pensioner) and best exchange value for my santro.
4) Smaller car and hence has better maneuverability in undisciplined Hyderabad city traffic.
5) Best in-class mileage

Thanks all for your timely help. I really considered all your expert advises and its just that I tried to choose a practical car.

Regards
Chaitanya.
