  • I'm a first time buyer. Help out with car selection

I want to select between petrol variants of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Next gen Ford Figo. My monthly running is around 500 Kms. Help out with your reviews.

    Hi Hitendra,
You should consider the Honda Jazz if you are planning to go with a manual transmission. It uses a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine and has a very spacious cabin as well.

Like konarktyagi said, the Honda Jazz is a good option. But if you are looking for an automatic, you could consider the Baleno as well.

Yes Hitendra the waiting period is quite long and this is frustrating potential buyers a lot. I've heard of a couple of people cancelling their booking and instead going in for a Ford Figo Aspire or the Honda Jazz. The Honda Jazz will definitely not have such a long waiting period and it is a very spacious car thanks to Honda's clever engineering.

One more car you can consider is the Ford Figo Aspire as NikilSJ has suggested. One of our forum members, Puneet_Chauhan had booked a Baleno and then cancelled it because of the waiting period and then bought the Figo Aspire. Here's the link to his experience: http://www.zigwheels.com/forum/topic...ome-experience

What about ford figo? Few mechanics I consulted said its difficult to find a 10 year old vehicle and have a very poor resale value?

walesmathew For your running, petrol would be a good option. The old gen Figo still holds good value and runs strong. It's too early to say for the current Figo. The problem is that the petrol engine in Figo (1.2L) is not really inspiring to drive. 1.5L doesn't come with a manual gearbox. I'd also suggest you go for the Jazz, although that isn't very good to drive either. You can take a look at Polo if you want something with German build and solidity.

The reason you won't find a 10 year old Figo is because the Figo as a brand is just 6 years old. It was launched in India in 2010. Yes, it's true that old Figos, especially the petrol ones have poor resale value. The diesels fare slightly better. This is great for those in the used car market looking for an inexpensive second hand diesel car.

                    Hi,
I think you should buy the Hyundai Elite I20. It's a compact package and the best one among the options you have listed.

Meghbalika. Yes, the jazz makes for a great car to get with the 1.2 liter petrol motor and 5 speed manual gearbox.

confused between Maruti Suzuki Baleno 1.2 Zeta and Honda Jazz 1.2 SV MT.. which one to go? my priorities are interior legroom and headroom, mileage, after-sales service expenses.. kindly give your suggestions.. my usage is about 800kms per month. waiting period is not an issue for me..
