Hey Anup_Raut, those are two very practical hatchbacks you have narrowed down on. The Hyundai Grand i10 is a really good hatchback offering a good amount of space and comfort. The Ignis was showcased at this year's Auto Expo, but none of us were able to get a closer look at it. It is quite a looker though compared to the Grand i10 and will stand apart on our roads. It will get the same engines as the Swift - a 1.2-litre petrol and the tried and tested 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine which is sourced from Fiat. From the looks of it, the Ignis seems a little cramped compared to the Grand i10. We need to get our hands on it to come to a conclusion though. Do check out this thread though for more information on the Ignis. Also, latest reports have suggested that the Ignis' launch may be delayed to early next year as Maruti Suzuki is struggling to cope with the demand for the Baleno and Vitara Brezza. Their waiting periods have increased to a 6 to 8 months now. Expect the Ignis to be launched only after Maruti clears the backlog.
The Grand i10 comes with two engine options - a petrol and a diesel. The diesel is a 1,120cc unit producing 70hp and 160Nm of torque whereas the petrol is powered by a 1,197cc engine that produces 84hp and 114Nm of torque. The diesel is quite noisy and I would always prefer a petrol car. But if it's a diesel you need, then it is better to wait for the Ignis as the 1.3-litre DDiS engine is one of the most fuel efficient engines in the country.
If you can't wait for that long, I suggest you go for the Hyundai Grand i10 as the Korean manufacturer too has a wide number of dealers and service centres across the country like Maruti. Parts are also priced similar to most Maruti cars.

Anup_Raut Hi Anup, you have already chosen good cars which satisfies most of the needs of a customer. If petrol is the choice of engine, I would advise you to wait for the Ignis as it will be powered by the same reliable 1.2L K-series engine producing 86hp of power & 116Nm of torque. The petrol motor is considerably revv free in nature and has a good punch throughout the rev range and is relatively fuel efficient too. It will also be backed up by the vast service network of Maruti Suzuki. So it's a serious contender. Talking about diesel, here we have a sure shot winner in terms of engine having the 'National Engine' - the 1.3L Fiat-sourced engine producing 75hp of power & 190Nm of torque. In terms of performance, efficiency and reliability, my vote goes for the Ignis for having the 1.3L engine. But that doesn't mean the 1.1L diesel in the Hyundai isn't frugal or economical. One department where Hyundai score is the premium interior, absolutely silent cabin both in petrol & diesel, space & long list of features. NikilSJ I completely deny that Hyundai diesels are noisy. If you compare them with petrols, the diesel clatter would have high NVH levels but seeing our current diesel engines, I would say the most refined & silent diesel we have in Rs 20 lakh segment are offered by Hyundai whether it is 1.1L, 1.4L or 1.6L.Full Sweep

The hatchback segment is facing intense competition and with the launch of the Tiago, some drastic measures was in order. In the above image we can see a restyled Diamond cut alloy wheels and camoflaged front and rear giving us an idea that the car will come with a restyled front and rear end.Although we cant see through it,DRL's may be included since the Swift already has it.We saw DRL's being added to the Elite i20 at a later date which was earlier available only with the i20 Active. We can see a sneak peek of the restyle front grille in the picture above and it looks better and fresh than the outgoing model for sure. The Interiors of the car is also taped down.So expect a new redesigned center fascia with the inclusion of a touch screen with navigation like the i20/Active/Creta or atleast just a bigger color screen stereo. The built quality of the Grand i10 was always best in the segment and we hope it would continue the same way. There may be not be any engine change and the car will continue to get the 1.1L 3 Cylinder CRDi Turbo Diesel and the 1.2L 4 Cylinder Kappa2 Petrol engine. There could be a small bump in power to the CRDi motor to aid in better city drivability and highway ride. From the pictures it seems the car is ready with official production tags on the side.We can expect the launch later this year but no official words are out as of now. Ronny yes, you are right. Hyundai diesel engine's NVH levels aren't all that bad. They are way better than Honda's 1.5-litre i-DTEC for sure.
Anup_Raut, I really like the Ignis. Even I have been waiting for its launch and Maruti to announce the price to see if I can afford it in the future. I love the retro-modern looks and spunky interiors. It certainly looks like no other Maruti from before except probably the first generation Swift. I do hope it does come in the coming months instead of next year. I just hope buyers in our country can warm up to the looks as the design is not for everyone.
