I will keep it short and simple. I got the Renegade delivered after waiting for 4 and half months (3 month wait period officially, I believe). Anyway, got the bike on the 12th of October, 2016. The bike broke down on 13th October, 2016 in the middle of the road with the odometer reading less than 20 km.

JijoMalayil Experience is getting worse. I gave them a couple of working days to fix the issue and followed up regularly for the next two days and finally got the bike on the 19th of October by noon and it broke down again with the same issue by evening, so it went back to the garage on the same day. On both occasions, the FUSE BLEW UP. They had told they will surely fix the problem and deliver it today, but as per the latest update they have not even figured out why the fuse is blowing up so regularly. So still hoping and waiting for the bike.

Somnathmr Thats bad. I understand the irritation when a brand new bike breaks down. Worse, when the service center isn't able to figure out the exact issue. Thanks for sharing this in the public forum. This would hopefully get attention from UM Motorcycles and prospective buyers. With the limited number of service centres, you would also be out of the option to go to some other service centre. Please try to find out what fuse was blown (if both times it was the same one). Maybe, the experts here may have an idea what to look into. Also, you can keep a few spare fuses and change yourself too. If the matter is still not fixed, you can try escalating it with the main company instead of the dealer.I know a lot about cars, man. I can look at any car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming.

Arjun somnathmr I think it may be a faulty battery or there may be a problem with the alternator. It's either overcharging or short-circuiting. It's better to get the entire electrical circuitry checked. Raise the issue to UM rather than the dealer. You'll get a much better response from them. This is their customer care number: +91- 850 60 48909 (Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM).Their toll-free number is 1800 120 5022. Let us know if they resolve the issue. Thanks Praveen. As per the update I got, thorough electrical checks were done at least two times but the root cause of the issue seemed to elude. So finally the complete wiring was changed and that seemed to have done the trick (except for some minor glitches). Kind of keeping it under observation for now (long ride seems to be a risk after such an experience )

Somnathmr Yeah, it's better you don't risk by going on long trips for the time being. Electrical circuit failures are the worst. The bike has fuel injection, right? If that's the case, then it is likely to have an ECU as well. More complicated parts invite more trouble if not manufactured/designed carefully. Same reason I didn't go for the fuel-injected Thunderbird 500 despite being more powerful than my 350.Keep the rubber side down!

somnathmr
I got similar problem with my Renegade Commando. Just after a couple of weeks from the purchase, fuse thought burst. My regular mechanic discovered that the wire which was placed under the rear mud guard was messing up with the tyre and made the fuse blew out. Since there is no kick start available, we have to rely only on electric start. In order to fix the issue, we made a clamp and placed under the rear mud guard to avoid collision with the tyre. In the next service I asked the guys to change the cable. The problem is solved completely now.
