I have always slowed down and rubbernecked Big Boy Toyz, an exotic car showroom on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road. It has always had a superb collection of Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Rolls Royce and Bentleys on display. I've also in the past visited the showroom a couple of times for a few events - occasions which have left me with a dry mouth at the end of it. That, was just a single floor showroom, that moved a kilometer up the road a little later to a slightly smaller location.
However, Big Boy Toyz has now got something fancier. A four-storey building that can house about a 120 cars in its 36,000 square feet of space. And not just any cars - the same exotic set of Audi R8s, Lambos, Ferraris.... Sigh! Last Saturday, we were invited to the inauguration of this new showroom of Big Boy Toyz. NikilSJ and I got there only to almost slip on our own saliva. Walking into the showroom, we were greeted by a Ferrari 458 in gleaming red, with a bright yellow Lamborghini Aventador to the left and Ferrari FF in pristine white to the right.
All the cars that BBT stocks are used cars that have been driven less than 25,000 km and are not older than model year 2012. Jatin Ahuja, president Big Boy Toyz says that on average many of his customers come in for repeat purchases, trading in their cars in less than six to eight months. He has about 50 cars in inventory and sells an average of a car a day - a target that he wants to increase to 2 cars a day soon. Mind you, these cars are all at an average price of close to Rs. 1 crore, resulting in a turnover of about Rs 200 crores a year.
Now before I bore you with more shop talk, let's get some of those beauties on to this page.
The Ferrari 458 is powered by a 4.5 litre V8 engine, in the mid-section, putting out 570 PS of power. I love those triple exhausts.
The BBT showroom can hold up to 120 cars on its four floors.
The yellow Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is a head turner. It pumps out 700PS of power, 690Nm of torque with all-wheel drive.
A Bentley Flying Spur with a W12 engine.
A pretty rare sight. A Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe.
The Ferrari California is a nice touring car. It comes with a front-mounted 4.3 litre V8 engine. Check out those wheels!
The Ferrari California puts out 453 bhp of power and 485 Nm of torque with a seven-speed auto box and rear-wheel drive.
The cabin of the Ferrari California.
A Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. This is a pretty potent sports car, which was replaced by the Huracan in 2014.
The Bentley Continental GT Speed. It comes with a massive 6-litre engine twin-turbo W12 engine! It puts out 633 bhp of power and 840 Nm of torque.
The Ferrari FF is a GT sports car that takes fun to a different level. FF is for four-wheel drive and four-seats. It has a 6.2 litre V12 pumping out 660 bhp of power and 683 Nm of torque.
The rear of the FF looks a bit weird.
The BMW i8 - a plug-in hybrid sports car. It has a 1.5 litre, three-cylinder 231 PS petrol engine and a 131 PS electric motor. The electric motor powers the front wheels and the petrol motor powers the rear wheels. It can drive in hybrid mode, all-electric mode or petrol only mode.
Neha Dhupia and Jatin Ahuja, addressing the media during the inauguration of the new showroom.
So Boyz, which of these are your favourite Toyz?
