We've already seen and discussed the numerous spy shots of both BMW G 310 R and its taller sibling the G 310 GS. We already know how the naked G 310 R looks and now, BMW has shown us their latest offering in GS series- the G 310 GS. Feast your eyes:
The new G 310 GS's design is totally in line with its bigger hearted brethren. With a tall muscular stance, a sharp beak-like protrusion at the front, fairing mounted headlamp with a flyscreen at the top and long travel suspension, the bike looks ready to conquer all sorts of uneven terrain (read Indian roads). The front forks are inverted and the rear has a monoshock unit. At 19 inches, the front wheels are slightly bigger than the ones in G 310 R. The wheels are wrapped in Metzeler Tourance tires and the exhaust system is upswept, true to the adventure tourer tradition. The bike gets a fully digital instrument panel while braking duties are done by ABS-enabled discs on both wheels.
The powerplant is the same one as found in the G 310 R but expect the engine to be tuned to suit this bike's riding dynamics. The engine belts out 35 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque and the transmission duty is taken care by a 6-speed unit. The new G 310 GS is expected to hit the European market by the first half of next year and India launch will most probably be later. It's weird because I feel small capacity bikes like these deserve to be launched in India first and only then in developed countries. Because developed countries have better roads and higher capacity bikes are more at home over there than in India. What do you guys think? Also, the bike will be manufactured in conjunction with TVS Motors so expect the pricing to be quite competitive.
