Triumph has come up with just about the right bike for enthusiasts who think the Thruxton is a tad too expensive. The Street Cup is essentially Street Twin with a bunch of rider-focussed bits and bobs to make it sportier. The powerplant is the same 900cc High-Torque engine that's good for 55 PS of power and 80 Nm of torque at 5,900 rpm and 3,230 rpm respectively. The engine is coupled to a five-speed transmission and modern electronic nannies like ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire and a torque assist clutch (read- light clutch lever) are all standard fitments.
Compared to the Street Twin, the dimensions have been tweaked a little. The handlebar is a bit lower and the seat is 30mm higher, at 780mm. The riding position is also more aggressive than to give that authentic feel of riding a cafe racer. Even the rake angle is slightly reduced to aid handling. Oddly, the wheelbase is a tadlonger than the Street twin by 20mm. The dry weight is also up by two kilos, at 200kg.
The seat cowl, flyscreen and the paint job oozes sporty character:
The Triumph Street Cup is the ideal bike for the vintage motorcycle fans who are looking to upgrade from their Continental GT. Timeless design coupled with modern and useful features make this bike an interesting proposition to prospective buyers, don't you agree?
