Much like India, China is also a key market for most automobile manufacturers in the world due to the sheer volume of cars that are bought and sold in the country. To cater to the demand of such a large population, cars of different shapes and sizes are needed. Every year, the Beijing auto show puts together the efforts of the various companies to address the demand of these customers.
The major differentiating factor between cars in China and the rest of the world is that every model sold here by the big brands has an extended wheelbase edition specially for the them. Here is an example.
This is the all new BMW X1 'Li'. This car is only sold here and no where else.
Although the front and rear are the same, notice the rear door is slightly longer

VW AG took this opportunity to make the global debut of the brand new TT RS
The Audi TT RS gets the next-gen version of the 5-cylinder 2.5l turbo charged motor. It produces a mind-boggling 400 HP alongwith 480 Nm of torque!
It is one of the lightest sports cars on the market right now. The known 'Quattro' all-wheel drive system helps it propel from 0 -100 in a less than 3.7s! Thats supercar territory!

Also on display was the 1st of 50 - Bentley Mulsanne First Edition
Renault also displayed the new Koleos. And from the looks of it, its a brand new car bottom up!
Volkswagen also displayed the VW T-Prime Concept GTE
It is based on the same technology as the Passat GTE and works using dual hybrid motors
The design seems to be greatly influenced by the new VW design philosophy, as seen as the new Tiguan and Golf
The interiors have been given the contemporary treatment with the use of screens everywhere. To be honest, I am not a fan of this. I like the old analog feel that stereotypical dials and dashs have to offer.
