  • My Car Pulls to One Side After Crossing Poorly Marked Speed Bumps

    Hi experts,
My Car Crossed Poorly Marked Speed Bumps!
I own a Hyundai i20 diesel 4 years old. I crossed two very poorly marked speed bumps twice at the same time driving at around 40-45 kph. (felt like its flying for 2-3 second) There was bad rolling and I couldn't control my car for few seconds. I didn't hear any major scraping, no fluids leaking. All 4 type pressure decreased to 24 PSI and filled air later to 32 PSI, but i feel my car wobbling on bad patches (may be its normal in i20). i have already done wheel balancing and alignment (upload its report)
Another issue is my steering is always in a slight left position it will pull to left easily. (As I have seen in Maruti Swift its stiff to centre and even you leave your steering it runs straight for few seconds). I have complained about this at Modi Hyundai workshop during previous services, but they have no good reason even after doing alignment, balancing and checking all tyres. Please suggest for both the issues. Do I have to checkup at the service station?

Even though you have got your alignment checked, I would suggest getting it checked again at a different shop, just to compare the report results, as there seems to be very little adjustment other than to caster that has been done (caster angle is the angle of the wheel either forward or backward from the centre plane).
But before you check the alignment, I would suggest you also get the suspension checked. A weak point with most hatchbacks is the lower suspension arm or A-arm as it is called - if you hit a speedbreaker or two really hard, this can get bent ever so slightly, which will cause the wheels to go out of alignment. Even if you correct the alignment, it would still pull to one side because of the bend in the arm. I suggest you check that first.

Anjali_Mukherji Hi, you can try Maithri Motors in Powai. I used to visit them long back when I was in Mumbai, but it has been a long time now. However, I still hear only good things about them. Its on Saki Vihar near to L&T gate. The location is available on maps. Another garage highly recommended is Select Auto Garage, in Dadar.
I know a lot about cars, man. I can look at any car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming.

Here are a couple of more places in Mumbai that have been suggested. The first is an independent mechanic:

          Jignesh Dessai: +919821421948
          The second is:
JMD Cars in Kurla West. He provides free pick up and drop service.

In addition, I think Arjun has already given you two suggestions. All these come highly recommended by various groups, so take your pick.
