Lamborghini launched the new Huracan Spyder LP 610-4 at their new flagship store in Mumbai. The 'Spyder' is essentially the convertible variant of the recently launched Lamborghini Huracan. This car is been of interest for most enthusiasts. It is the second Huracan to be launched in India in the last six months. The last was the launch of the Huracan LP580-2, RWD version in November 2015. A company like Lamborghini doing so much in India is an clear indicator of how serious they are about this niche market here.
The car is priced at Rs. 3.88 Crores (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Don't expect many takers for this ultra-expensive car. Although, if the rumor mill is to be believed, Lamborghini has already received 8 bookings for this monster.
The car displayed at the showroom was in a dazzling shade of blue.
As far as design goes, it is very similar to the regular Huracan, except the soft-top retractable roof. Lamborghini claims that it can be opened in 18 seconds while driving at speeds up to 50 kmph.
Apart from that and some colour options, rest of the car remains the same carrying all edgy-lines and the perfect stance. In fact even the alloy wheel design has not been changed, it is the same as the ones seen in the regular Huracan. From the front, it sports the same W-shaped LED daytime running lamps with the mighty air ducts at the bottom. Another set of air intakes are integrated within the overhang of the side.
Much like the exterior, the interior of rhe Lamborghini Huracan Spyder shares its styling and features with the regular Huracan. The car offers the same dashboard with honeycomb pattern air-con vents, similar switches and controls along with the same multi-functional flat bottom steering wheel and sporty seats. Of course like the exterior body the cabin also offers new colour trim options.
The interior materials are a sublime mix of carbon fibre and Alcantara leather.
Fun Fact : The Huracan is derived of a basic feature that even the Alto K10 has - height adjustable seats. Quite shocking.
This button is new and the quality is on par with the rest of the interior.
The best part of the car is the naturally aspirated, 5.2-litre V10 motor. It sits right behind you and ensures you forget all the problems in life as soon as you press 'that' button. It makes 610 hp while producing 560 Nm torque. Power is transmitted through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. 0-100 comes in at a fast 3.4 secs and the top speed is 324 kmph.
Thanks to Volkswagen, I mean Lamborghini, the Spyder gets the same V10 as the Audi R8. Interestingly, the Huracan Spyder also gets the ‘cylinder-on-demand’ technology which shuts off one bank of cylinders when not needed, and start-stop, in the interest of efficiency. This is as green as a Lambo gets!
When viewed from the side, it looks like a million bucks. Specially while she is removing her top.
Massive 18 inch ventilated ceramic disc brakes gives this monster the stopping force it needs.
