Route advise on trip to Shimla from Jamshedpur

I am planning a trip from Jamshedpur to Shimla in My Maruti Ertiga With my Family. I will be connecting to GRand Truck Road at Barhi in Jharkhand. I am planning to start on 13th October at about 3:00 p.m. and planning to mke a halt at about Sherghati or Aurangabd in Bihar. Can anyone suggest whether it will be safe to make a halt there in the night. Can any one suggest any hotel in those places. Any alter plan will also be appreciated. Thanks
