2024 Bajaj Chetak 35 Launched

Quick Highlights

  • The Bajaj Chetak 35 range has been launched in India

  • It features an upgraded battery pack offering a lot more range

  • Also gets new features including full fledged navigation

Bajaj has launched the Chetak 35 series in India starting at an introductory price of Rs 1,20,000 (ex-showroom). This is the newest version of the Chetak electric scooter and it offers better range and a lot more features. Here’s everything you need to know.

The new 2024 Bajaj Chetak 35 series includes 3 variants: Chetak 3501, Chetak 3502 and the Chetak 3503. Here’s a brief breakdown of the prices.

Variant

Introductory Price (ex-showroom Bengaluru)

Bajaj Chetak 3501

Rs 1,27,243

Bajaj Chetak 3502

Rs 1,20,000

The new Chetak 35 features the same neo-retro design language that we have come to associate with it. It gets a round headlight and an overall flowy design, with sculpted body panels. Now, from the outside the scooter might seem similar to the Chetak variants currently available but it's not.

The e-scooter has undergone a lot of changes. Starting with the placement of the battery pack. Earlier the battery pack was placed underneath the seat, which reduced the scooter’s available underseat storage on offer.

The new Chetak has a different frame and a longer wheelbase. The seat is also a new one and is longer than the previous Chetak’s by 80mm.

Now, the battery pack has been shifted under the e-scooter’s floorboard. This has increased the available storage space significantly. Now the scooter offers 35-litres of underseat storage, which is in-line with what its competitors offer.

The battery pack has also seen some updates. It has the same 3.5kWh capacity as the previous generation Chetak, but the battery gets more energy dense cells. This has helped increase the claimed range to an impressive 153km. The scooter is offered with a 950W charger that will take 3 hours to charge the battery from 0-80 percent.

When it comes to features, the Chetak 3501 and Chetak 3502 differ slightly. The Chetak 3501 offers a touch screen TFT console. The console offers smartphone connectivity and related features like full-fledged navigation via Google Maps. It also offers document storage and a few new safety features such as geofencing.

The Chetak 3502 offers a lot of the same features, but doesn't get a touch enabled TFT console. That said, customers who want to take full advantage of the connectivity features on offer will have to get the TecPac.

Coming to the Chetak 3503, so far Bajaj has not mentioned anything about the scooter’s features but we expect it to get limited features. This will help keep the costs down and make the scooter more affordable than the Chetak 3501 and Chetak 3502.

Overall the update to the Chetak is really impressive and the e-scooter is now a more promising proposition. It will go up against other family-oriented e-scooters in the market such as the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube.
